I feel like he's done some irreparable damage to his voice over the years, and it just doesn't really work for me anymore. And yet, here I am with two tickets to the Boston taste of chaos date... Nostalgia is a funny thing.
Not a great first impression for me...weak vocal, and feel like I've already heard this from him before.
- Sounds like it was recorded live. - Sounds like solo Twin Forks. - Sounds like something I'm not excited for. So long sweet summer...
I'm not a big dashboard guy (although I've seen them three times) so my opinion is probably worthless, but this sounded awful. Sounded like a drunken amateur singing at a karaoke bar.
Well I'm getting married in August and this song would be great. But I can't get over his voice basically cracking the entire time.
Didn't sound too great. Feel like it should've been written in a lower key better suited for his voice these days. And kind of hated the sepia-looking video with blown out highlights.
well... guess I'm the minority... I loved it. Reminded my of Shade of the Poison Trees (which I love)
Never saw DC but saw Twin Forks twice and I'm not entirely sure why he would want to release this under the DC name aside from the brand power. If you played this for me and told me it was TF I'd believe it. More in the TF vein than the DC vein is why I'm trying to get at.
Every other music news site today lead with some variation of "new Dashboard sounds like old Dashboard!!" for their posts. Our comment section nails it with how it's actually more TF than it is old Dashboard. That's why I love you guys.
i generally don't like to judge like this. but i feel like it probably would have been a lot more beneficial to NOT post a live rendition of this. his voice is noticeably strained and overall its just not very good. going to TOC on 6/17. hopefully it sounds better there. also did chris finally age? i feel like he's looked the same since 2001 and he looks different here.
DC has always been hit or miss for me - I love some of what they/he does, and other stuff is just not for me. This appears to be in the 'not for me' camp.
Would have like to heard a mastered version of this before a somewhat "live" version. I'm sure if this is going on the new album, the vocals will be improved.
