no really, fuck the Cathedral of the Deep. I'm 6 hours in roughly and I am absolutely enthralled. The game is absolutely gorgeous and theres something about the characters and the way the lore is handled that feels more reminiscent of DS1 than DS2 which I really like. The game is fairly challenging and I feel like its taking me much longer to level, which is fine because its making me learn enemy patterns and "get gud" with the tools I have available to me. One of these days some of us need to engage in some jolly cooperation/PVP because that system feels even smoother than it did in the previous games.
I'm currently in the catacombs, roughly 10 hours in, and I think I need to head back and grind a bit. I'm just getting destroyed and I need some levels/titanite to upgrade and progress I think. On the plus side I got the armor of thorns which might be my favorite set in the whole series. Opens up some great fashionsouls options. Also got my pvp experience. Person invaded me and kept trying to bait me to go to where npc enemies are. I waited it out and absolutely wreck him. Pretty satisfying.
So I just beat ol Pontiff and found the fucking PVP capital of the god damn world after beating him. Took on like 6 people in a row but I managed to win. The broadsword is overpowered as hell. Also when I realized that I was in anor londo my jaw dropped. absolutely stunning. im about 20 hours in and im already planning my NG+ and other characters, plus some PVP on my current character.
That are is the most insane PVP I've ever experienced. A couple friends and I spent a night getting wasted and just fighting 3v3 all night, total absurdity. Pop a Seed of a Giant Tree and bring down the wearwolf spider and shit gets reaaalll weird. And returning to that area was pretty much all I wanted from a Dark Souls sequel, it's just a bummer it was such a streamlined area. Really wanted to re-explore the entire area
yeah like, there are literally dozens of summon signs up right now and people are just coming in constantly. Its really fun tbh, its bonkers to the max. and yeah its a shame its smaller and more straight-forward its still nice. the fan service on this is really great and im glad they still include references to DS2 despite FromSoftware kind of disowning that game.
at 25 hours and 8 minutes, the brave knight Butterlegs linked the first fire and completed his journey. Now its time to start NG+ :D
lol i wish. feel like i couldve gone faster had i not been so hard headed in the beginning. im still gonna go collect some armors and finish getting the bone shards, plus theres a couple little quests i want to finish up. might even do some pvp before NG+
Yeah Archdragon Peak was probably my fav area in the game. I think the Dancer, Yhorm, and the Nameless King were my fav boss battles.
The Deacons fight was also high up there for me as well. Really I dont think any of the boss fights were bad or even mediocre really, they were all fun mechanically and subverted the "dude in armor" criticism that DS2 received. Also the PVP is really, really fun. Exile Greatsword has claimed several skulls, both invaders and hosts alike. Also also, I'm a big fashion souls fan. I've made it a point to collect all the armors in every souls game and I'm almost there with this one. Just need the black knight set and Alvas set. I think pound for pound this is my favorite set of armor (and weapons) out of the 4 games I've played.
i love the flipping and dashing of the Faron sword. So fun. I've noticed a lot of people parry spam and that weapon (plus the Exile Greatswords weapon art) are really effective at breaking that.
I already love this games NG+ more than DS2s. I hated the red phantoms that were added in the WORST POSSIBLE SPOTS IN THE GAME. Just made me want to make a new toon instead of doing NG+. This is much more fun but still a solid challenge. Oh btw I love this game to bits.
this series has some of the most interesting lore. it almost reminds me of something from like, an anime with all these powerful warriors and ancient artifacts and strange mythology. Aside from the Moonlight Greatsword, is there anything that connects Bloodborne to Dark Souls/Demon Souls?
You could argue that Marvelous Chester is a connection between Bloodborne and Dark Souls, same clothing and playstyle as Bloodborne characters. I like to think he was from Yarnham before being abducted by Manus
http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/...at-dark-souls-iii-ashes-of-ariandel-dlc-.aspx Everyone, we have a DLC announcement. Leggooooooo.
I still have flash backs to Dark Souls 2 snowy DLC. Fuck that entire DLC a thousand times. But yeah, looks cool. Would be cool if the DLCs really tie all the games together and finish strong, sort of like Bioshocks Burial at Sea
