Now that I've spent a ton of time with Dark Souls 3, starting to feel fairly confident of my Soulsborne rankings. Dark Souls > Demons Souls = Bloodborne > Dark Souls 3 >>> Dark Souls 2 Dark Souls 3 is great, very happy with it, but on a few replays it's feeling a bit stale already. There are a couple levels that I just really do not enjoy playing.
:( sad to see DS2 so low. Its my favorite of the 3 souls games I've played. Once I get my PS4 I'll be able to play Bloodborne and maybe Demon Souls
Bloodborne > Dark Souls > Dark Souls 3 > Dark Souls 2 > Demons Souls I love them all though but these are pretty distinct rankings, they're not that hard to put in order for me.
I cant wait to play Bloodborne. I like the more aggressive playstyle of having a gun and melee weapon instead of shield.
I really dislike Dark Souls 2. As soon as I started playing it felt kind of off, there were some levels I enjoyed but they were so short and linear I didn't get to enjoy exploring them. Just looked ugly and felt clunky. I like to consider it fanfiction since Miyazaki didn't direct it. Bloodborne, on the other hand, is fantastic. It's the reason I bought a PS4
That would do it haha. I think Demon's Souls is actually the most dense of all the games. World/character tendency alone adds soo much replay value to unlock new NPC's / gear. Really wished that made an appearance in the other games
I really wasn't a fan of the tendency mechanic, haha. That could be because I was unaware of it when I started until I ended up with a black level and had no idea why it was so difficult, haha. It just feels the least interesting to me in terms of world or enemy/location design and that's a big part of these games to me.
Demons Souls lore is fascinating, as is all the souls games lore. Very rich. Even though it's not technically a souls game, I'm excited for Nioh since it seems like it'll carry on the souls tradition since FromSoft are basically done with the series from what I've read.
I'm interested in Nioh but if they keep the thing about getting staggered every time you run out of stamina that might be a bit too much for me. Bloodborne has my favourite everything from the series, haha. It's a perfect game.
Too many Souls clones miss the appeal of the games, which is what you said, the lore, NOT the difficulty. The way the games approach story telling is fantastic, I'm probably alone in this but I would be ecstatic if Miyzaki's next game was a pure exploration game...something like Myst. Just exploring a totally fucked world and figuring out whats up. Nioh looks like a PS2 game, legit looks like Tenchu. Not too optimistic
Yeah I played the demo at a friends house because he said, and i quote, "this demo is fucking bullshit dude its way too god damn hard no one is going to want to play it" but I sat down and had a blast playing it. Fit like a glove as far as feeling like a Souls game barring some different mechanics. I dont like the stamina system all that much but I LOVE the weapon stances and rarity system so that balances out. The fact that you can see enemy stamina is a really nice addition until the demons troll you with their stamina mechanics.
Yeah I have no idea what the story or lore is going to be like for Nioh but hopefully they could do something cool with the setting.
Actually might be my favorite fight of Dark Souls 2 haha. it's pretty much a not as fun or interesting Artorias, which imo is the best boss of the entire series
Yeah he's a good fight mechanically and story wise, I'm just getting too cocky with him. Gonna try again after work.
Figured I'd bump this since I will soon be the proud owner of a PS4 and a copy of Dark Souls 3: Prepare To Buy Edition. Hopefully I can get gud. I'm very very excited cant wait to spend like 500 hours playing the game and developing my character and dying in PvE and PvP.
