I'm a few hours in and I'm not sure what to think. I feel like I'm constantly underleveled, a feeling I never had in DS1 and 2.
So quick question regarding DS1 if you guys could help Is it better for me to upgrade my claymore to +15, or go with a lightning claymore?
Elemental damage is usually better imo, unless you have a lot of strength/dex, but even then elemental damage is great for PVE (in almost all cases)
I always go without elemental or anything like that because I'm usually all in on strength and melee and I never want to be stuck against a lightning enemy or anything resistant to a certain element and have to change from my main. It's been a while since I've played DS1 but I know in DS3 it seems like you get less lightning damage i return for the standard damage you sacrifice. Plus you can always use Gold Pine Resin to give your weapon Lightning if you want to against a boss or something.
thanks guys. i just remembered i found a lightning spear so i think what ill do is upgrade the claymore to +15 and the lightning spear to +10. ive got some titanite chunks to farm lol
I never realized how big the PVP scene was in these games. Hell, even DS1 still has a pretty active community. These games are just so wonderful.
I was invading people yesterday and kept finding people in groups of like 3/4 and just getting destroyed, haha.
ive unfortunately had to refund DS3 because of framerate issues and it not letting me play online so thats a bummer, but the pvp looks fucking exceptional. Whats the hindsight opinion on DS2? Seems like quite a few people dont like it but it looks pretty good to me.
I love Dark Souls 2 but I don't think the creator/director of the other games had anything to do with it and it's noticeable. I think it's definitely a fair bit weaker than the others in terms of level/enemy design and lore but it's still a fun game.
Yeah it seems like a sidestep rather than a progression like DS3 is. I'll probably end up purchasing it because I'm always down for more Souls. I quite liked the Zero Punctuation review I watched. Despite how comedic he is, Yahtzee does a good job of deconstructing games to their core and his point about "dark souls 2 gives but then takes away" is interesting. Like, he mentioned that bonfires now repair weaponry automatically but thats juxtaposed with weapons now degrading MUCH faster. Just interesting little tidbits like that. idk like I said I'll more than likely buy DS2 before the weeks over lol
Yeah Dark Souls 2 is definitely just more souls rather than a push forward. I think there's enough great stuff in there to warrant it for me though although I know a lot of people seem to hate it.
Beat it two days ago, and still have so many gems/weapons to mess around with. The one boss that gave me a hard time was Nameless King, but I finally beat him too. Gonna explore some areas I kinda ran through, and maybe some PVP.
Finally dove back into this yesterday. I don't remember why the curse rotted greatwood was giving me so much trouble before, I beat it without even being touched this time around.
currently at Velstadt in DS2, I totally get the criticism now of most of the bosses being "dudes in armor" basically. They've been fun fights though. Also why are all the good looking armors kind of weak? The Faraam armor looks so spectacular but it offers hardly any defense :(
Such a shame :/ but Fashion Souls is the true challenge of the game haha. Love making my character look cool with different armor combinations or full sets. I've been using the Vengarl set for most of the PvE stuff just because of how good it is
Started NG+ in DS2, very excited to do it all again. I've fallen in love with my character and will try my damndest to recreate him in DS3 once I get to it. Also dabbling in some PVP. Getting my ass handed to me but its still so enticing. I joined the blue covenant because I like the idea of helping players who get invaded. Been using the Washing Pole since its reach is good and it has solid damage.
New game plus is a blast. I need to do the 3 DLCs as well since those seem very good according to the community. Also, I've come to realize how kind of....pointless physical defense is. I was testing out my current favorite fashion soul setup and Vangarls armor and the difference in damage is super minuscule. Which is fine, my armor is lighter so I can roll even better. Prisoners hood and Aurous armor, plus dual wielding axes I'm sorry I bump this thread so much I'm just really hyped on these games.
yeah i was looking it up and people have done tests on the phys def and have pretty much proven that its not very useful until you get to like NG+3 or so. I'd rather just be lighter and look good anyways. Think I'm gonna make a caster but I have no idea how spells work in the DS series. I'll probably just try to figure it out myself. I know you need attunement and chimes/staves to cast.
Made a new character in DS2 and just beat Nashandra so now I'm doing DLCs. Theres A LOT of content in this game, and its all solid to excellent. Fashion Souls has also dominated my mind I'm constantly playing around with armors and trying to get all the armors in the game.
