Bought Dark Souls 3, its installing now Any beginner tips? Will probably carry on my character from DS1 and make a strength character, probably using a claymore or something. I just like the idea of that character.
Just enjoy. I can't think of any tips off the top of my head, haha. It's a great game though and I hope you have a ton of fun with it. Keep us updated on how you're doing!
Will do! I figure between DS1 and DS3 I'll have plenty to keep me occupied haha. DS3 just looks tighter and more streamlined which I like.
Yeah I think DS3 definitely has some improvements from a gameplay perspective that they picked up from DS2 and Bloodborne. I think the best things about DS1 is how connected the world and level design is and how fantastic the enemy designs are. Plus the lore in that game is fantastic. Haven't had a chance to really dig into the lore for 3.
The thing I've loved about DS1 is that I can look off into the distance and see, say a tower or something, and I'm like "I hope I get to go there, but probably not since this is just a video game" and then next thing I know I'm there and doing shit lol. I love the lore, the idea that all the heroes and gods have abandoned us or gone fucking bonkers and we're just destined to exist and kindle bonfires and ring bells and meet other undead is so cool. I love that my character feels like a real character, with development and battle scars and a sense of incredible progression. Basically I just love these games
Yeah it's so cool in that way and how you can see where you've been from the later stages or how you circle back to places you've been. It's even cooler when you look into the lore of the bosses or the npc's and find out why they are where they are and their history and stuff. They're just such detailed games.
yeah ive been watching a guy on youtube named EpicNameBro/Marcus and he goes deeeeeeep into the lore, which is really really cool. Its nice finding other undead/knights/adventurers in the world and being like "oh hey I know who you are and why youre here and why youve done what youve done" and its just really ingenius. Just the world itself is interesting, the idea that its dying and cursed and we're all just these undead walking around and doing whatever we want. Its got such a good atmosphere and such a deep, deep lore if youre willing to invest in it and I just adore that.
That you play weirdly, haha. What are you having trouble with? You literally just need to attack whoever is possessed until you win. You rarely even have to dodge.
running a dex/pyro build for a new character...picked up the uchi from that guy near the shrine for a good dex weapon, it's nice but it feels so much slower than it did other games.
Just finished the game. Found the last two main bosses easy as hell. Went back and looked at the guide and realised I missed one entire area that I forgot to go back to and had 4 bosses in it. Whoops. Got the boring standard ending too, so I've now gotta decide whether to go into NG+ or start again as a intelligence/faith character. Really love the look of some of the spells and miracles I found and couldn't use as a melee character. You can cheese that fight fairly easy if you use a great sword or halberd and just keep swiping and carving up the enemies to get to the main one. Take as many out as you can then switch to something faster, dodge round to the guy glowing red and hack away. When the fat enemies start their curse just run straight for the main boss because after a while it's insta-death.
The leveling feels so slow in this one compared to the others. I've got weapons I want to use but it's taking forever to get the right requirements set up on this first run to do it. Otherwise I'm loving the game.
I've still just been playing my first character (str/dex) but interested in starting out Yes. First three quarters of the game, it's real hard to level up / upgrade gear. Last chunk of the game gives you a ton of materials/souls. Pretty rough to start a new character
I wanted to beat Aldritch with a couple friends, just for fun, and holy shit. A solid hour of CONSTANT invasions, almost a perpetual 3v3. By far the greatest PVP experience of any souls game. God damn, I love this game.
I've only been invaded twice in DS1 and I won both times. My character, whom I've lovingly named Butterlegs, doesnt do too bad against others I guess. So my laptop cant run DS3 so I'm installing on my desktop and playing some DS1 while I wait.
Welp, neither of my computers can run DS3 :/ But its ok, DSI is more than enough to keep me occupied for a while
Beat it right after posting this on my first try haha. Didn't mix up my strategy or anything but it was so much easier today for some reason. Just extinguished the fires in Farron Keep—onward and upward.
Yeah. It's weird because the game drops titanite shards like it's my birthday, but any other supply has been pretty scarce. I FINALLY found a titanite scale to upgrade the Farron GS, so I'm finally moving on from my broadsword lol. I'm glad it ramps up though, it might inspire me to hit NG harder then I have in previous titles.
Can anyone enlighten me as to why, as a sorcerer/pyromancer build I would wear light armour? On my second play through now and can't figure it out. Other than having the fast roll I don't see a benefit. You get no magic attack bonus for it and you're weak against melee enemies which most of the game consists of.
I was talking to @thesinkingship about this last night, but I honestly don't see the use of heavy armor in this game. I mean being fast/having a good equip load is everything. So I just don't see a need for it. Having said that though yeah a sorcerer/magic caster would make sense to have heavy armor.
I never use heavy armour, I always kept under 70% as my melee character to have that medium roll. But light armour gives barely any protection at all and it seems the sets only exist for cosmetic purposes. It would be nice if you at least got some kind of bonus for wearing a full set.
Pretty sure armor is more effective in this game than the other Souls games, but yeah, dodging is the name of the game. Always fast roll
@chip and I started a new game in DS2 last night trading back and forth with deaths for fun, and it's crazy how slow it feels in comparison to 3 haha. Full stops when using estus is insane in retrospect.
