I feel like I'm really taking my time with this one. Just beat Crystal Sage and started working on the Cathedral last night. Got about 11 hours so far.
comparing games to Dark Souls happens way too often. It's always "Dark Souls inspired..." or "X is the Dark Souls of Y"
i agree. but there are also a lot of games that have been drawing elements of dark souls, especially lately.
I finally bought Dark Souls 1 the other day and I'm enamored with it. An absolute joy to play, which is strange considering how unforgiving it is. I just love the aesthetic and the gameplay and the minimalist story telling, it all just works together so well. All this means is I'll eventually be on the DS3 train :D
Also, I think I might just start a new character since I've made so many mistakes on my first character (like not getting the master key, putting points in resistance, etc). Youd think the idea of doing everything over again would frustrate me but I'm very excited about it haha.
New to the site. Popping in and out of threads. This is one that I'll spend a lot of time in. Just finished my NG++ playthrough. After fucking around with some other classes. NG+ is certainly a step down from the previous games. No added mobs of enemies/dark spirits etc. Having tons of fun though. Would also be down for some co-op if anyone is on Xbox one!
true, and while my current character is still quite effective (especially with the drake sword) it still doesnt feel quite right. I think a bandit would suit me better, plus putting more points in worthwhile stats instead of int and resi like on the character I'm playing now would just help a ton. But who knows, right now I'm just happy to be on the Dark Souls train. Will probably pick up 3 soon once I find a new job.
you got a PS4 or Xbone? If you have a PS4 make sure you get Bloodborne at some point too. It's the best game. Hope you enjoy DS, it's amazing, haha.
Only have the last boss to take down now. Don't want it to end! What are your guys favorite weapons? For me its Dark Sword , Greatsword, Greataxe. Dark Sword is by far the most practical in terms of speed and weight, but the heavy ones are just funny how much damage they do when you time it right.
I was goin to main the game with my Farron greatsword, but I need another 8 titanite scale to get it to +4. So for now I'm using the dark blade which I got up to +7.
Lol. I just plug in my old Xbox controller but ya PC is the way to go for me. After I run some errands I'm going to start a new character. Very excited to go back through again.
Started a new character, it took me roughly two hours to get to and beat the taurus demon my first character. took me 25 minutes to get to him and beat him. i love the sense of progression this game gives. plus it helps that im leveling my character much better
Replaying and blasting through the early areas that gave me so much trouble on my first playthrough of Dark Souls was such a satisfying experience.
That's one of the things that makes these games so great. I think most people have the same experience when they first play one of these games.
Not being able to warp for the first half of the game definitely adds to the level design / sense of accomplishment. Beating a boss and opening a huge shortcut back feels so much better than just beating a boss and warping from the bonfire. Though thinking about how many hours I've probably spent just running between areas is scary
Haha, that would have been so much worse in any of the other games since DS is easily the most connected world they've created. I think they put that in just to show off how amazing their level design was, haha.
