As a huge Punisher fan (I have way too many Punisher graphic novels), I enjoyed One Last Kill for what it was. The action was fun. I’m hoping they do a new Punisher series or film after this.
This is why the timetable is so confusing. In Punisher Season 1, Frank took out a member of the Gnuccis, so it makes more sense if this took place around that time vs. after BAS1, long after that inciting incident.
ok interesting, I just rewatched Punisher s1 and I don't remember that at all but he kills a lot of guys in that season tbf and it can kinda blur together
oh that guy yeah I think they either forgot about or slightly retconned that. Frank only killed that guy to protect Donnie, the dude didn't have anything to do with Frank's family (a refreshing change actually)
I actually forgot the circumstances of why that guy was killed, myself. Interesting, but that doesn't really change the murkiness of the timeline since he was supposed to have killed everyone in the gangs involved at the beginning of Season 1. It's a continuity snarl.
Finished this, pretty good for the most part but nowhere near the Netflix era. Bullseye's aura is unmatched hope they put him everywhere. I'd watch a Bullseye show honestly.
I thought the action in Punisher one shot was pretty cool, not amazing, and the story was not a hit for me. I was pretty disappointed.
up to s3 in my rewatch and that first Matt/Dex fight is so sick, I miss the fight choreography on that level in this show. agreed I'd watch a Bullseye series in a heartbeat, they knocked it out of the park casting him
I always loved the angry bees noise to represent the chaos in Dex's brain. You don't hear it as much in Born Again, and I wonder if that's a conscious choice as Dex becomes more comfortable with who he is.
unfortunately the cynical answer I think is BA is more about hype moments and fairly surface level reads than the Netflix show. still enjoy it but the gap is pretty significant on rewatch
I don't know if this is necessarily an answer to my question. They used the bees noise some in the first season; I don't remember if they did or not in the second but if they did it was early on. Are you suggesting they dropped it because they already got their audience and didn't need to go to the trouble or how does that fit in this specific instance?
I'm saying the Netflix show was very careful and deliberate about character building and used sound design as a part of that, hell there was like a 20 minute sequence of Fisk getting Dex's backstory. BA pretty much just treats Dex like a wisecracking antihero and ignores all the psychological depth s3 gave him, they probably stopped using the buzzing noises and all the overlapping voices in his head because they're not interested in that extensive characterisation
I don't really agree with this take. I think Dex is still layered but he's less uncomplicated about it. He's accepted what he is, but his need to somehow balance what he did I think is an interesting turn of his character, as is his death seeking tendencies.
finished my a3 rewatch (been off sick so had a lot of time) and the scene where Fisk accepts the deal in BAS2 really is just a pale imitation of "I BEAT YOU" lmao what an incredible season though, I'm so thankful we got that before Marvel killed all the shows. never noticed the parallels between Nadeem and Matt's dad before, now I'm crying all over again
Started my rewatch of Netflix DD by accident as I initially wanted to only revisit S3 before jumping to this again. Good thing this happened as I forgot quite a lot of backstory on S1.
I just finished the new season! Lots of cool stuff, but I am kinda tired of every season being Daredevil vs Kingpin
