I thought for sure Avenged Sevenfold would be one of the ROTR headliners.

Can we stop with Korn headlining again? They really haven't changed their show up in 10 years. I do like Metallica and Soundgarden as headliners though. Honestly, I'd give Volbeat the nod to headline if we were choosing from this lineup. A7X being missing is interesting but they headlined almost every festival last year.

There are only so many hard rock bands to headline these festivals year after year.

Exactly my point. Time to elevate another band. Volbeat pushed over 50k with Seal the Deal in its first week and got up to #4 on the Billboard charts. Plus, a lot of their songs are played on heavy rotation on Sirius XM and the crowd I saw at their Rock Allegiance set last year was massive!

Sweet lineup! I love that Biffy Clyro is on there.
Edit: Not to mention, Primus.. :)

I am really hoping the Open Air lineup is similar to ROTR. I just can't justify taking three days off work and driving 7 hours to Columbus. I have seen most of the bands I want to see multiple times this year. Open Air is only 45 minutes from me.

With last year being it's first Chicago year, it's hard to tell. I'm sure it'll have Metallica as a headliner with maybe Tool and A7X.

The headliners for Open Air this year were fantastic. Usually it's the undercard that pulls me in though.

Good to see Amity will be back in the states around that time -- hopefully part of a tour.

It was a very solid undercard last year and I'm hoping it spawns other Open Airs to pop up. I still think, even without a modern rock station, NYC would be a great place for an Open Air festival. We already have a lot of indie based festivals such as Gov Ball and the new Panorama Fest but nothing really rock based. I think the last attempt was Riot Fest Brooklyn and that flopped.

    ROTR is selling REAL fast...

Is it selling fast than previous years? I feel like it's similar to Riot Fest when they announce it, the first day they play it up like tickets are selling so fast and then it slowly sells out. Metallica is such a huge draw though. No doubt Sunday will be packed to the gills.

Deafheaven, Skillet both are playing Friday according to Facebook. And Metallica is subday?

God id kill for Thrice / TBS / ETID / Deafheaven / Norma Jean all to be the same day but there's no way it'll happen.

Very surprised Avenged Sevenfold isn't playing any of these five festivals.
