got the complete opposite vibe from the lyrics. less hyper personal gut wrenching emotions here than ever before. a lot of great punchlines and wordplay though
He’s called this his stand up comedy album or something to that effect. Definitely a lot less serious than previous efforts.
Comparing this to ZUU or FM actually makes a lot of sense. Very concise/no filler hip hop albums, with outstanding production.
I guess I didn't mean they are more serious. Definitely less gut-punching lyrics, for sure. More punchlines. But I noticed not as many drug and sex references on this one.
On an album with Q-Tip, Peggy, and Flying Lotus and Thundercat producer marks I'm shocked to say Savage Nomad might be my favorite beat on this. Hot damn.
Agreed with a lot of this. Took me a good three listens for it to click, but now it has, Its definitely gonna be high on my AOTY list.
I think this is in my top five for the year, and it is one of just a few rap albums in the past few years to hit me this hard.
Saw him tonight for the third time and he was fucking amazing, rapped everything perfectly, awesome setlist and he even did a five minute standup set towards the end lol. I also got to high five him since I was on the barrier!!
