Yeah definitely waiting for the album at this point, but if anyone's interested he played a bunch of snippets on his Twitch tonight, should still be on demand on his channel
"3 Tearz" has probably my favourite El-P verse since RTJ2, but Killer Mike's verse was pretty damn average, didn't hear a single standout line
don't read if you want to go in completely blind: Q-Tip rapping on "Combat" was a very nice surprise[/SPOILER}
I definitely don’t agree that this is his best work but it’s really great. Negro Spiritual and Belly of the Beast are the major highlights. The combination of FlyLo production + Thundercat’s bass + Peggy’s hook on Negro Spiritual is amazing.
Honestly can't imagine how he could top Atrocity Exhibition, nearly perfect record imo, but this is awesome. Only spun it once but Shine stood out to me, loved the melodic production and tempo. Also, was hoping for a verse from Peggy but Negro Spiritual still slaps doe. Will def be coming back to this.
Listening now and it's great as expected. Not sure if it tops Atrocity Exhibition, but it's still early, so we'll see.
I really can't get over "Negro Spiritual." Every part of it just comes together so well. Have Danny and FlyLo really never collaborated before this? It seems like such an obvious match to me.
you really do feel the Q-TIP influence all over this eh? Feels like an old school hip hop album in thats its just a collection of amazing beats with amazing raps on top of it. The experimentation of the previous records is thrown out and replaced with just top tier hip hop in its rawest form.
All this praise has me so hyped to listen to this later today. Gonna blast this at 11 on my drive home from work
