Maybe it's just my brain fucking with me, but I swear that Death of the Robot intro line is still there, just suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuper buried. Either way, remaster sounds excellent. Speaking of DotR though, I think that's one song that suffers. The original mix suited it so much better imo. Both.
Some remasters are either imperceptibly different or just brickwalled versions of the original release. This isn't one of those. Impossible not to notice the difference, and most will find it to be for the better. I think the biggest change was just EQ to bring the high end up a ton, but there's also better stereo separation, unless my ears deceive me. In terms of loudness/compression, it's more or less than same as original.
Poor Matt Malpass. This is rightfully getting unanimous praise, but it’s gotta be a little frustrating for him.
yo they fixed it! I've wanted this literally since Acceptance Speech first dropped! solidly my favourite Tillian-era album now
Remaster sounds great. Anyone else think that the overall volume of the Instant Gratification instrumental album is really low?
It sounds great. Got to give it a full listen today before work. Some of the lyrics still don’t mesh well but Will and Matt’s work are amazing throughout.
i always though that tilian sounded too robotic on the original version, it's cool that they managed to fix that somehow and bring the life back into his voice on this mix. everything sounds awesome! i never disliked the original mix, i thought it sounded fine, but this sounds really great, everything is super clear and crisp!
There are definitely a lot more riffs and leads I could not catch before that stand out very well now on multiple tracks. Did Will write both lead and rhythm for that album?
Josh Benton has some part. I want to say I remember them saying it was either 70/30 or 60/40 between Will and Josh.
This has always been my least fav record for some reason, but I have a good feeling this remaster will change my mind about that
It’s arguably my favorite, hard to pick with them, especially since I have long held such a soft spot for Happiness and Deathstar.
Guys I’m being really effing weird and waiting to listen to this in October cause it’s just not an August jam for me
been saying Speech is one of their most interesting/boldest releases, not to mention a necessary transition between the weirdness of Kurt era to the more straightforward (for this band anyway) Tillian era, for years now. feels good being validated by everyone since the remaster is all I'm saying ;)
Yep this remaster elevates it, a few songs that still haven't grown on me but overall it's a solid entry to Tillian's era. That said, I wonder how far they are into the upcoming album?
