I don't like a lot of Happiness, but the songs I do like I absolutely love.

 

All these years later, and I still think Uneasy Hearts is the best song this band has ever done.

 

Coming up on the 1 year anniversary of Mothership.

Best Tili album by far, though it's a little overlong

 

Agreed it's their best with Tilian, which surprised me since I'm not a fan of IG. What song or two would you trim out?

 

I forget a lot of the names but one in the middle, I think Philosopher King and deception maybe

 

Whaaaaat?! I love both of those tracks, Deception especially.

 

I'm not 100% convinced those are the songs. Also the opener is a very meh song. Frozen One or Young Robot would have made a great opener.

 

Young Robot, Deception and Inspire the Liars are my favorites. I like that Tilian has sounded less polished on each release he's been on. He sounds like a robot on Acceptance Speech, better, but still overproduced on Instant Gratification (my favorite with him regardless) and then added some of his scream/raspiness He used to use a lot in Tides of Man on Mothership.

 

relistening, and yeah, if this album was 10-11 songs i would like it more. Flossie Dickie Bounce is a little too silly, and the last 3 songs kind of blur together for me. Also not the biggest fan of Here Comes the Winner.

The stretch of Deception > Inspire the Liars > Philosopher King is incredible though. Really think that showcases exactly what DGD does well.

 

I don’t mind the length since I like every song but if I had to scrap one it’d be petting zoo justice

Man Of The Year is a bit of a slow burner, but once you hit that bridge it's incredible...

 

Oh man, deception is a top 3 track for me
I also love every second of man of the year haha this album is at least a 9/10 for me. Love it so much.

 

Floss Dickie is definitely my least favorite on the album, I don't think I've fully played it through since the first weeks of Mothership's release.

 

back to Happiness... I think Carl Barker is the most underrated DGD song. Probably top 5.

 

Flossie Dickie is a highlight imo. A lot of their Tili songs blend together a lot so I need that silly song.

 

Definitely top 3 Travis songs for me.

 

I could probably go without Petting Zoo Justice if anything had to be cut, but I think the length of the album is just fine, and it would be a crime to cut Deception haha

 

Hot take: Carl Barker is not one of my favorite Kurt songs. Which is strange because I thought many thought it was his best.

if I'm thinking of the right song deception's outro goes on a little too long for me. frozen one is my clear number one. seeing that live was blissful.

 

Yea Tilian sounds great in Deception and I don't understand the hate for Here Comes The Winner. I loved that song immediately.

Also the guitar in Petting Zoo is wild gotta keep that, so I would cut Chocolate Jackalope. Though that song has grown on me a lot I'm still not a fan of the middle part
