they are all definitely great, but for me Mothership is exceptionally solid, and quite a bit above the other two which i think are both pretty close. Mothership > AS > IG songs to check out: Inspire The Liars Something New Turn Off the Lights. I'm Watching Back to the Future pt. II
you can make a pretty kick ass track list for 1 albums worth of material out of their last 3 albums. it would compete with Deathstar. it would look something like (going in order by album): Doom and Gloom Strawberry Swisher 3 Honey Revenge Turn Off the Lights 2 We Own the Night Stroke God, Millionaire Something New Variation Young Robot Inspire the Liars Betrayed By the Game Petting Zoo Justice
If this type of music we're still big I'd see mothership as a scene classic. I think it's that good. I like IG a lot but AS is just more fun to listen to for me. Better melodies and guitar work.
Stroke God Young Robot Inspire the Liars Shark Dad Here Comes the Winner Betrayed by the Game Probably my favorites in the Tillian era
i mean, it's not ever gonna be Underoath's Define The Great Line big, but considering... i think in 10 years Mothership will definitely be seen as a scene classic. and it did hit 13 on the billboard, so it's not like it wasn't pretty successful.
Would you say any of their other records will be considered classic? The first 4 definitely all feel it for me tbh
I think it's fair to say DBM. That album even if not listened to, is well known in various music scenes and most fans of that decade of music recognize the uniqueness of it for its time.
I have friends that don't follow this sort of music at all that know deathstar. Gotta say that's their most recognized work and the only one that could be considered "classic"
I would definitely say DBM and Deathstar could both be up there. Among a lot of DGD fans I know Happiness is the "consensus favorite", but idk if it has as wide of recognition outside the fanbase as the first two.
Didn't Will say something about working on Secret Band stuff in the Warped interview with Chorus? I may have confused it with one of his other projects but I think he at least gave a rundown of what he was doing with each project
Yeah he mentioned something was in the works if I remember correctly, but he may just be fucking with everyone
Agree with everything you said, but I wish I'd seen it on more EOTY lists last year. Seemed pretty limited to people who were already into them around here.
After the band announced its hiatus, Kurt and Ben were calling each other out on Facebook over personal/professional issues they had with each other, and soon a bunch of other musicians from that scene were involved, their wives were involved, and it just became a huge mess.
