Tillian is the only singer I've ever liked for this band. Jonny has a fantastic voice but I never liked his melodies, loved Kurts melodies but never really liked his voice. Tillian does both and that's why I'm finally into this band
DBM was Jonny's peak at melodies. I've yet to find another album where he's used his voice to that full potential sadly.
I'd say Relativity with Emarosa is his peek and best work. DBM is my favorite from him though for sure. Tilian has gotten much, much better at melodies and playing off of Will's writing. Hard to say any album yet really tops Mothership.
I think he relapsed pretty badly recently I think. He says he's 60+ days sober and was in the hospital for a while. Kinda screwed up the promotion of the new Slaves album which is now pushed back to late summer (I think) with tour dates following that.
Trying to get the 5 quest with 4 people trophy in Dying Light and we all keep disconnecting. Online trophies are a fucking nightmare when you have bad internet. There are games I can't platinum because of my Internet. It's the worst.
I've never been a big fan of Kurt-Era DGD but "Strawberry Swisher Part 2" will always hold a special place in my heart between the lyrics, guitar work, and those powerful gang vocals.
Relativity is easily JC's best work, it was all downhill from there. Even though I liked that he had a little more variety on later albums, he never did anything that approached what he was able to pull off on that first Emarosa album. Kurt was "fine" but way too repeaty on all the songs on Happiness and he was terrible live for a long, long time. Tillian has the best chemistry with Mess and gets better every album.
I've only seen Kurt live with allb, but he was always solid. I think he miles ahead of tillian but tillian is growing on me. Idk I like basically everything from these guys now so i don't really care who is singing
Kurt is my fav and by far the most creative musically of the 3, but I think at the time he was kicked out he wasn't taking care of his voice/himself, and definitely was suffering live with his voice breaking quite badly at a lot of the higher parts. He kicks ass now though!
Him getting kicked out forced him to become so innovative and creative. He's one of my favorite artists in whatever he does, but his DGD albums are some of my favorite records
Don't get me wrong, Kurt really stepped it up after he got out of DGD and his ALLB and Eternity Forever stuff has been great. So it's not that I think he's a bad singer, just that he was not very good at the time. I think Mess even talks about it in an interview back in 2011 before DBM 2.
I genuinely enjoy all three vocalists equally. I would only care to grab a beer with two of them however ;)
The times I've met Jonny, he was super nice. Signed my vinyl and even gave me a free Slaves shirt cause it was my birthday. It's just the "extra-curriculars" that he was into that harm his public appearance haha. Personally he's a nice guy. Just has a lot of crap in his life.
Heroin addiction, sexual harassment, lying and stealing from his fans are hardly things I would qualify as "extra-curriculars".
