Petting Zoo Justice kind of fucking rips everything to shreds

 

some parts of this kind of sounds as close to DBM1 as anything after that. Here Comes the Winner is another one with parts like that except for that awful here comes the winner chrus thing at the beginning. I might actually have to Audacity that shit off of my file

 

Tracks 2 - 6 are my favorite part. I think I'm gonna end up skipping Chocolate Jackolope, Here Comes the Winner and Petting Zoo Justice the most, they don't do much for me.

What the fuck was Swan thinking on Chocolate Jackalope. that might actually be the very worst moment in their discog

 

I think that bit is funny! In a song where Jon Mess literally screams several bars of lyrics about his cat I don't think it's supposed to be seen in any other way

Besides, the lyrics at the end of Lost are the bottom of the DGD barrell...

 

I see your Lost and I raise you Eagle Vs. Crow. Maybe cause I didn't understand what Tilian was actually saying in Lost for the longest time.

I changed my mind about Chocolate Jackolope. I thought I wasn't gonna be able to get over the cringey lyrics in the beginning but it keeps getting stuck in my head and all the vocal runs Tilian does throughout the song redeemed it for me.

 

But what about People You Know? I want to erase that song from existence.

 

That entire song is such a mess. Not even the guitar work redeems it. I just looked up the lyrics for the first time too and I think it might be their worst. Ever.

 

Also I'm really curious what this will chart at? IG debuted at 32 with 15,000 but I feel like this is going to debut lower cause Green Day and B&C came out the same day even though I think there was way more hype?? Idk

 

It really is, the lyrics aren't even playful or anything like on the new album, it's just a complete and entire clusterfuck.

 

People You Know is so good

 

Halfway through this and it's exceeding my already high expectations. Inspire the Liars is great. So far this is shaping up to be my favorite album in their discography.

 

Just getting into this band. Is the new album a good starting point, or should I start with something earlier?

 

People You Know is excellent. Not everything this band does needs to be half-baked jokes put into lyrics. Still one of my favorite songs from Mess. His message and idea behind it is great.

someone make him a playlist. might be a good way to get into a band with 6 albums

 

At this point, i'd recommend listening to Tree City Sessions and then having somebody just pick which songs they enjoyed the most, then visit those albums.

 

maybe. that albums roughness (liveness) would probably put off plenty of new people

 

I also enjoy People You Know.

DBM1 will always be my favorite but I love the S/T too. Gonna try to give this a listen today.

 

The new album is a great starting point.

 

Listened to this a few times the past few days. So far it's the only album with Tillian that I enjoy and mess sounds great. My favorite records from these guys will always be DTBM1, S/T, and Happiness though. They haven't been able to match the soul/funky-ness from those days since Tillian joined
