Here Comes the Winner is a DBM throwback. Not crazy about it, but there's gotta be people out there looking for that. Expose is tight so far. Dude @mattylikesfilms you're going to be so proud of me, I'm not hating this!
I definitely need more time with this but I feel like it's going to be on par with IG which is currently maybe my favorite? I feel like Young Robot got me more hyped than I needed to be, it's still my favorite song by theirs at the moment though that's subject to change as I'm sure this album is going to grow on me. I always like DGD albums more after some time cause the details are usually what gets me. I agree that Tilian's never sounded better, and this is an AOTY contender for me, too. I don't like the production too much, I feel like the bass is too muddy at times and it overpowers the guitars but I haven't listened to it on headphones or in my car yet, so my mind can be changed. I'm really stoked on the experimentation they've done in terms of using other instruments and electronic tones like in FDB. I don't necessarily like it (specifically FDB actually) but I'm really interested to see where they take it.

"Young Robot" is spectacular, too - probably second behind PK for me. I'm glad to see they brought back the darker and more adventurous style from AS for at least some tracks here, since it was almost completely absent on IG.
Yeah I cancelled my Yellowcard preorder and just bought it at the store, same with TBS. And this one not arriving on time might be the final nail for me. I don't understand what's going on over there lately. That's so weird. They have been sucking lately, I don't know why.
First thoughts on listening to it almost two times today: COCAAAAAAINE CRINGE FESSSSST Really loving Young Robot and Chocolate Jackalope. Also Flossie Dickey Bounce is fun but god damn those lyrics. Can't wait to spend more time with the album.
I think my 7.5/10 rating may be a little low - listening again and it's an 8/10! It's the heaviest Tilian-featured record IMO; hardly any clean parts and the "groovy" parts seem like they are primarily played on the top strings of at least one of the guitars which makes them hit harder/heavier.
im gonna need more time to see if this tops acceptance speech for me, but man do i love it so much already. i think some of the mess lyrics are really cringe-worthy and are the only down spot for me, but the vocals, melodies, guitar, its all so wonderful.
I emailed them, and they told me it hasn't even shipped yet because bundle items are delayed. My order isn't part of a bundle. Frustrating.
Tilian has come into his own so much as a DGD front man. Deception is really good showcase for him. Will give more thoughts later.
Yeah I'm kinda mixed overall after first listen. I recall being the same way after IG, and it's in my top 3 DGD albums now so I'm not worried. Will give it more time to sink in. I would like more Mess. Anyway Young Robot is going to be a new favorite of mine regardless.
If anyone was wondering why I disappeared from this thread the past two days it's because I died from hearing how good this album is.
how is this band putting out such good albums so often how is their seventh studio album potentially their best how can i tap into the brain of my cat and let him know he's my widdle baby meow meow boo
I think they know their lyrics weren't great before and just ran with it and turned the lyrics up times a 1000. And I love it so much.
