S/T is probably the best in terms of pure sonic work, but AS is definitely the best of the Tillian stuff so far

 

tillians voice has like 9 reverb trails behind it at all times on AS. and it's loud over other instruments. between that and the overall mix, It's not amazing. not completely awful. hate the little electronic bits but they're not super prevalent

 

took me 5 listens to realize that betrayed by the game is better than chucky. and i liked chucky quite a bit.

I don't have an ear for production, aside from DBM and Jon's vocals on Death Star it all sounds the same to me

 

Why do you dislike 7-9?

 

The Strawberry Swisher tracks on Happiness are phenomenal.

 

strawberry 2 is one of their very best songs. whatever on the other two I can understand someone not liking those

 

I can understand people not liking them but I don't really get how someone would love the rest of the album and then despise those three, ha.

 

Mothership is their best album

Holy fuck. Such a definitive answer from Drew. This and ETID are all I need from this genre for the rest of the year.

 

I can't anticipate them ever topping Happiness at this point in their career but I would very much like to be wrong

 

This genre? Is there really any genre in which both of these bands fit?

 

Both bands elicit a similar response to me as a listener, and when I get in the mood for heavier music, I listen to these bands. Not necessarily same genre, but I find myself reaching to listen to these artists when I listen to one or the other. I also forgot to include Polar Similar and Dissociation as all I need from heavier music for the rest of the year.

 

the strawberry swisher 1 lyrics really put me off hard too

 

Yeah the lyrics aren't great in the verses (Will wrote the lyrics to that song I believe) but I like the chorus lyrics tbh! And the guitars are great so that song is a for me

To piggyback my last post: If I was going to try again what should I start with? IG, AS, or DBM2?

 

IMO you should go IG, AS then DBM2, then Mothership in order to cleanse yourself from Jonny's sub-par performance on DBM2, which still stands as the worst individual performance across this band's whole discography.
