I love the track titles and I love the artwork and I love the fact that I was right about the October release date and never got my hopes up for September haha
Whatever I Say Is Royal Ocean and Downtown Battle Mountain II are the two DGD releases I almost never listen to. I love everything else.
Wait, people thought Instant Gratification was bad? That is just silly. Record has some of the band's best post-kurt songs to date (We Own The Night, Something New, Awkward, Legend, Death of a Strawberry,) and Tillian was able to show what he can bring (Variation and Lost are so damn good that it gives me chills) to DGD. If they can progress even further then we are all in for the best DGD record ever.
Lost is the only DGD song I don't like I never listen to WISIRO and don't count it as an album though
The opening riff of Awkward negates the blandness tag I'm afraid. The breakdowns are perhaps formulaic for the genre, but not really for DGD, and the fact there's two back-to-back is both hilarious + enjoyable!
Respectfully disagree. Especially with Legend. Tim's bass lines and Tillian's voice work is sublime. There's some fillers on AS and IG but the worst song on either still beat most songs found on DBMII I usually agree but Will Swan Is a beast so I'll listen to anything he plays.
It's not actually him, Tillian was body-snatched. Of course I can't substantiate that, but it is more likely than DGD keeping a singer this long.
Listened to most of their Discography last night, still stands up pretty well! If it wasn't for we own the night, Spooks would be my favorite DGD opener.
Some songs on Happiness doesn't hold up as well for me anymore. Tree Village is definitely one of them. I would say their best openers is a tie between Alex English and Spooks vs We Own The Night IMO.
This is, in my opinion, hands down the best line up they have had. Tim and Tillian brought much needed life to the band.
Deathstar was Eric Lodge, and Happiness was Jason Ellis. I think the bass on Happiness is DGD's best.
Yeah but I think that song is overrated af personally Was about to say Tim wasn't on those recordings. I wonder if they had Crummet produce Mothership? Most likely.
Yes. I'm about 99% certain they recorded in Portland (where Crummet is) according to their tweets at the time.
