Lol I get it. Jonny Craig used to be my fav DGD vocalist by far. I couldn't stand Tillian at all when he first took over, and I eventually started to enjoy some of the songs with him, then it took the live album Tree City Sessions and hearing him cover older DGD songs to sell me on him and ever since he's my fav DGD vocalist.
i can't help but feel like jon mess is the michael cera of music like he just accidentally walked into band practice once and got stuck doing it.
I'm not really familiar with his work but I've heard some good things, Cory will be hard to replace though
Andy is legit one of the best vocalists in the genre, dude's voice is unreal. Lyrically, though, Cory's absence will be felt pretty deeply. To the point where I'm actually slightly concerned. Both Andy and Kurt are, let's say, much much much better singers than writers. There is an ALLB thread though btw.
andy is for sure a better performer than a writer lol but he went hard as hell on the last monuments album. not sure i agree re: kurt since hes so confident around a killer hook but its def a different game of songwriting than cory
I tried searching before and didn't find it, my b I think Kurt can write great stuff when he really goes for it (eg Happiness t/t), hope he brings that energy on this
also altho this band is very much corys band in my heart and soul i do think its kinda funny that we went from no place -> cory album without kurt -> kurt album without cory lmao (assuming this an lp)
Happy Kurt can find a band to actually focus on. Seems like he's always bopping around to different projects.
Im not sure if they’ll be able to capture what made the band as good as it was, since Cory was the X factor from a thematic/lyrics perspective. Ill keep my expectations tempered but Cizek was fantastic on the recent tour, so Im sure the performances will be great at the least
gonna be a very different flavor of band for sure and one i lowkey have had a hard time imagining but i am at least intrigued at the idea of hearing his monstrous lows alongside kurt lol. wild range. id imagine andys also probably gonna be doing some singing on the album too
that is pretty exciting, though Cory was such a powerhouse and his screams are like no other imo, they fit so well. here to also say space cow initiation ritual is the shit, this may not be my fav dgd album but it is still good and andrew did some interesting stuff with them and made some real bangers. I just really wish he didnt use layered vocals so much lol. earlier Eidola he didn't really do that so kind of a bummer
It’s the album always stuck in my head, but Acceptance Speech and front half of Mothership make my ears happy too. probably important context: I came to DGD through Story of My Bros acoustic. Not an OG fan.
Now this also has to be a first for me haha. But the variety of DGD is what I think is great about them! I became a fan in 2010 toward the end of the Kurt era.
They must be in a really good place if the entire band is sober. I'm so happy for the guys. Especially Matt
Album is still incredible to me, but who knows how it’ll do. If this doesn’t do well, they honestly should just go full atom bomb and get Jonny and Kurt on the next album. If shits just going to hell they should just go out with a messy bang.
jonny's done a pretty good job lately of trying to change himself for the better at least, doesn't absolve his past but at least he's trying to better himself but people are always going to look down on former drug addicts
