the songs with Tilian are not currently relevant with this current itineration of the band

I'd suggest listening to everything from Royal Ocean to Downtown Battle Mountain II, then skip over to Pantheon

If you still want more beyond that, then go back and listen to the Tilian era albums

I expect them to perform very few Tilian era songs going forward

 

Right now Tilian voice is just killer with this band

 

by far easily it's one of the best post hardcore albums ever

the George Clinton feature is really bad and cringey. Reminds me of the Jeff Bridges feature on the new Japanese Breakfast where it's only there because he's mega famous.

 

It's fun and Will is a big fan so that's the only reason, it's also the biggest feature they got since chino.

 

I wouldn't expect Tilian to perform with the band again until either the year 2030 for the band's 25th anniversary, or 2035 for their 30th anniversary, or maybe an anniversary performance of Mothership at some point.

Otherwise, I would actually expect Jonny or Kurt to perform with DGD at some point before seeing Tilian on stage with the band ever again. I may end up wrong, but I feel that's where things are at with Tilian.

 

Really cool how there's a conversation in here about when an abuser can be expected to play with the band again. Pretty nice.

 

Pen is right. who cares about Tilian. he sucks. the band sucks for not only *not* canning him immediately but then welcoming him back 6 months later.

i've said it before, they used to be one of my favorite bands, and I haven't listened since. i'm not telling anyone to do that but let's be mindful here

 

Damn man, I'm really sorry I brought it up. I regret saying anything. I screwed up and I feel like you felt the need to be sarcastic towards me from what feels like a place of anger and wanting to make me feel bad for posting. I do in fact feel bad for posting, so I'll do my best to avoid saying something again that would legitimately upset you or others in this thread.

He made the mistake of mentioning that he has been enjoying listening to the Tilian era as a new fan of the band.

I made the biggest mistake of speculating when the band might bring him back, and I brought out the brunt of your response. Even though I honestly would be ok with him not performing with the band again, I shouldn't have even speculated about it at all in the first place on here. That topic of conversation is not welcome at all and I should have known better, so I paid the price. My apologies again for triggering your response towards me. It was my fault for causing it and I wish I had not done so.

 

Neither were mistakes imo. It was a discussion about the band in the thread for the band. Not everyone has to like it.

 

guys this is a niche forum that talks about largely niche bands and artists. i don’t think pointless speculation about any previous vocalist coming back is relevant, both with where the band is, and who those vocalists were (minus kurt what a gem), but it’s also not a big deal and doesn’t need a whole melodramatic apology. it’s fine none of this matters that much.

 

Honestly I think it would be pretty cool if they brought back ALL the past vocalists for a song. Jonny, Kurt, Tillian and Andrew all on a track.

 

And then Kurt dropkicks them all in the nads.
