Yeah I think he was just trying to keep people interested after he already gave out the album and had nothing left lol.

Edit: some guy in this discord is not taking no for an answer, saying Jonny's 100% in Robot and is the backing vocals in the beginning. Listed as sherm in the stems because his label wouldn't allow it and own the rights to his name or something. I dunno

 

Agreed with this. To me this is kind of a rebound from the last two Tilian albums, feels like they’ve found their stride more again with Andrew.

gotta give them some credit here, it's definitely the weirdest music they've made in a minute. The Conqueror Worm is fucking wild lol

 

yeah can't lie I enjoyed this a lot, they were really holding back the good stuff from being singles. if they swapped out McGuffy's for Speed Demon I'd have very few complaints about this one

one of the rare times when I like a leak this early because I don't feel great about giving this band money but I still enjoy the music

 

This is definitely the most engaged with a DGD album I’ve been since Mothership. The band is a lot more experimental, weird, and generally heavy I’d say. I really like Wells on here, feel like he has a lot more variety in how he uses his voice which is nice after Tilian doing the same shit forever.

This is also the first album leak I’ve heard since Kingdom shutdown so it was nice briefly reliving the bygone era of hearing an album months in advance.

 

I've always loved Andrew's voice and that still applies here but I think Mess is the runaway star of this album, just an insane performance. did not think he was capable of those like black metal shrieks on Worm

 

Oh yeah weird day and the night drugs made me forget, I’d 100% say this is Jon’s career highlight (at least DGD, never checked out Secret Band). Everything from his screams to his cleans are great.

 

Secret Band are really good especially LP2. think that's where most of their creativity went while they were recycling the same stuff over and over with Tilian lol

 

Album is a total snoozefest for me. I hear so many recycled riffs and melodies. And they don't need to do the Tillian vocal effect for Andrew. There was just nothing memorable after 2 listens.

 

Still really enjoying this, but I’m having a hard time remembering what the last 3 songs sound like.

 

I think the closer is one of the best on here but yeah those other 2 don't move me

 

This album is miles above the last two or three same-soundy records. I actually appreciate Andrew's voice here and it's a nice change up from Tilian doing the same stuff over and over. Jon completely wins the MVP of this record.

I'm always going to have to check this band out after finding them accidentally back in 2007. So many things have changed since then and they really fell off for me over the past couple of years due to everything happening within the band as well as the stale musical output. Hearing this leak definitely brought back those late 2000's vibes of hearing a record early which was a cool feeling.

 

this is definitely the most I've been into them since Artificial Selection, just surprisingly good stuff

 

I’ve only heard the singles so far but these songs just bounce off of me. I don’t know if it’s the production or I just don’t like Andrew’s voice but nothing is standing out. Basically white noise to me

I'm with you. The same thing happens live too with this lineup. I understand and appreciate them cutting ties with Tillian after all that shit but Andrew's voice sounds more generic metalcore to me and less like a good fit for DGD.

 

Don’t forget they didn’t cut ties with Tilian after the allegations came out! He came back to the band.

 

Highlights of the new album:

• Jon Mess trying new styles of screaming
• Will Swan's vocal parts
• The variety in Andrew's singing
• To add on to the previous point, Andrew's knack for writing solid hooks and melodies without relying on extremely high notes to pull them off
• Heavy sounding guitars reminiscent of Mothership
• The band's ability to balance between the roots of their sound while still trying new things
• Callbacks and easter eggs that make devoted listeners feel rewarded
• The band seemingly not holding back on the lyrics
