Not surprising considering the line-up change. As much as I hate to say it, Tilian was the face of the band for a significant chunk of the fanbase, having contributed to that many albums in a row. It's also their biggest gap between releases.

 

I heard they got fucked by Craig Owens because they were supposed to take chiodos out on a headliner but Craig backed out to do another leg of the alls well that ends well anniversary cash grab. Not that that impacts album sales but definitely doesn’t help the momentum because as of now do they have any real tours scheduled?

 

DGD is doing a festival in the spring with Chiodos, I forgot which one it was but it was just announced on social media a few days ago. I wouldn't be surprised if they lined up tour dates together.

 

No like they were going to be touring together but it got canned because Craig is still wanting to cash in on this fake ass anniversary tour

 

Was Craig/Chiodos definitely the reason for the cancellation? In recent interviews, DGD has been saying they decided to wait until spring to tour because of Andrew and Will having kids. I thought that was an unusual reason to unexpectedly cancel the night before announcement though.

I think the last few years have really divided their fan base. There's a huge chunk of fans that are pissed they parted ways with Tilian, there's another chunk that is glad they did, but not happy they picked Andrew (they wanted a fresh voice). Then you're left with, in my anecdotal experience, the smallest portion that is happy with the direction the band has gone. Just reading Reddit, Twitter, Instagram, etc.

I truly believe they peaked in popularity and are now on the downward slope of that mountain. My .02

 

I'm not sure we in here understand how big they got with Tilian vs. what they were doing before him. I saw them on the Happiness tour in an extremely small venue in Birmingham with MAYBE 50 people. I bet they went back to the Jonny well for DBM2 out of necessity. I really think they got lucky with Tilian that he became so popular. Band is probably coming back down to earth a bit without him.

 

Tilian is fucking garbage so as much as everyone in this band seems like an insufferable person, at least they're not working with a rapist

 

Yeah this is implied on any comment from me on the situation. They waited too long to kick him out, IMO, but I could've told you they would have a steep drop off in popularity without him, even if the quality of music stayed the same or got better.

 

It sucks for them that they hit a popular peak with someone like him at the helm.

lol we're canceling our tour because our families are welcoming new additions... that we knew about before we booked this tour.

 

I know Tilian has multiple serious allegations and Andrew has none (that I'm aware of). But there's something about Andrew's demeanor, look, and now his awful lyrics on Pantheon that feels like doubling down on Tilian's fuckboy douchiness. So yeah, a new singer would've easily been my preference.

Someone said a couple pages ago they can't stand anyone in DGD, but also can't pry themselves away from the music. I think I'm at that point too. After all that's gone down since the Jonny days, all the way up to Andrew's current vibe, I see so many data points suggesting the core members view DGD mainly as a cash cow and have very little respect for their fans' intelligence. But most of the riffs and ideas Will comes up with are still fantastic. It's a weird juxtaposition.

 

He's not....?? He was never charged with a crime. never even investigated. And the one people hang onto as "proof" was given a cease and desist by lawyers and Tilian went on Finn McKinty's podcast recently and said she followed the band around on tour and had sex with him several times and when he said he wasn't looking for a relationship she flipped out and went and made her Reddit post. He said his lawyers AND the band can corroborate the story, which is why after she made the post, she disappeared online. She made up a story and wasn't counting on receipts coming back at her.

You can believe what you want, "beLIevA All VictiMs"...as long as you can also acknowledge some of them also fucking lie.

The 2nd one was never proven to be false. The victim just decided to not pursue the matter any further after Tilian's response. Whereas Tilian showed an immense attention to detail towards the first allegations, he was considerably vague in how he addressed the 2nd allegations. There were some very specific details in the 2nd allegations that Tilian pretty much glossed over. I just listened to his entire interview with Finn Mckenty since you brought it up. Tilian barely addressed the 2nd allegations. It's the 2nd allegations that may cast a shadow on him for the rest of his career.

Anyways, can't wait for another DGD album with Andrew.

Also, in 2030, I would love a 25th Anniversary of DGD 3-day Swanfest. They should hold it at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center and run it the same way as Best Friends Forever (two stages, no overlapping sets) which I'm going to in a few weeks!

This is how I would book Swanfest (there would be more bands, but this is just kind of the idea)...

Night One:
- DGD (performing Pantheon front-to-back)
- Hail The Sun
- Royal Coda
- Stolas

Night Two:
- DGD performing Happiness front-to-back with Kurt Travis and Zachary Garren. Jon Mess and Andrew Wells would only join during the encore, but they would perform with their other bands earlier in the day)
- Secret Band
- Eidola
- Strawberry Girls

Night Three:
- DGD 25th Anniversary Set (featuring the current lineup as well as very special guest appearances)
- A Lot Like Birds
- Lower Definition
- Sianvar

I'm a law school dropout (was just 2 credits shy of graduating). Far from normal and well adjusted, but I've lived an entertaining life to say the least, lol

If I could have obsessed over my education the way I obssess over DGD and every band I've ever loved, I would have had a lot more life success to show for it.

Lack of discipline and being easily prone to escapism would lead me another way.

I'm not sure if it's due to me being super soured on the band but all the "swancore" (hate that term btw) bands sound the same to me. That line-up would bore me sans A Lot Like Birds and Lower Definition

 

Sorry, sometimes I don't catch when sarcasm was intended. I wasn't sure if you were intending to embarrass me, cause harm towards me and wanted me to feel bad about myself, but I had honestly hoped otherwise. So if you have more bullying you wanted to do and make fun, just go for it and get it out of your system.

I debated whether to make this post, but I'm gonna just go ahead and let it out.

What's your end goal with the one line responses? What you are doing is legitimately bullying, so I'm finding myself asking, why?

Is this the type of bullying you do to let someone know that they are not welcome here and they need to not exist anymore? Are you trying to manipulate people into not speaking?

Rather than tell someone specifically what you don't want them to say, you just use sarcastic one-liners in hopes of triggering their mental state? Do you purposely want to trigger someone with a mean one-line response, have someone express themselves with a lengthy response, then go back and bully some more with another one-line response, and just keep the cycle going? Or, are you hoping you succeed in triggering someone to respond to you, when you had only responded with merely one line, so you can continue making fun of them doing the same thing? Maybe your hope is to use the one line responses as a weapon to eventually get someone to stop talking altogether? Are you winning anything doing this? Do you do this to people outside of here, or is this your safe space to try to hurt people you wouldn't hurt in real life?

On this forum, I try to speak my mind freely while also being diplomatic and respectful. Sometimes I say things that annoy someone else. I never want to intentionally hurt people on here though and make someone feel less of themselves.

With your short responses, I can only assume that I in fact annoyed you, causing you to want to bully me with the one-liners. It's behavior you learned watching other people do it, maybe people you looked up to, and then you adopted it.
