i kinda feel like Prisoner doesnt fit the album. idk Afterburner is my favorite album but I skip Prisoner most the time. and i have no idea why they chose it for the lead single. parody catharsis and one in a million would have made amazing singles.
i love prisoner lol there are very few songs by this band i dont love. even robot pt 3 would fall under love most days. they just have great lead singles.
It feels kinda of tides of man esque which I probably like. Also caught me off guard as a lead single. I’m also not the biggest DGD person so can’t compare it to others
Always liked how prisoner had a darker/edgier and more foreboding vibe than most DGD songs. That chorus is simple but incredible.
it functions as a stellar opener for afterburner and kind of throws you off guard as the album ventures into a whole bunch of different territory whereas prisoner sounds like a continuation of artificial selection i wouldnt necessarily say the rest of the album reflects that
I like Prisoner but I think Lyrics Lie should have been the opening track to the album instead (I love the idea of the whole thing opening with the "IIIIIIII NEEEED TO"!). Prisoner had me excited for potentially a more trippy album, but when I found out that it was written with Sergio Medina & Joseph Arrington I just thought that's clearly a leftover idea that originated with Sianvar and just Brought over to DGD lol
I don’t know if I actually believe that but it’s the first one that came to mind when I read your comment
There's a mathematical proof that demonstrates this. I'd post it but I don't think anyone would understand it.
Frankly a 197 IQ isn't even high enough to understand the song itself, nevermind the math that proves it's the best song.
Instant gratification in general is always going to be one of their best when you just go song for song on it. we own the night, something new, legend, on the run, variation, it’s stacked
