Did he say that he doesn’t want fans critical of them touring with Ronnie Radke/FIR in their fanbase? Or was I shown a clip out of context? If true and they really want to cultivate the same audience Ronnie has then it’s so over (even though it was pretty much already over)
There’s a snippet from it here, along with a snippet from one of Jonny Craig’s recent Instagram lives, suggesting that the band aren’t going to have a permanent clean vocalist anymore and it’s going to be a collaborative spot where Jonny, Kurt and others could fill that spot in rotation.
so it’s basically just secret band with a guest clean vocalist or something lol this is like the dumbest most confusing way they could possibly handle this
Yeah I was just thinking about people who still want to see their shows will have no idea what to expect?
What exactly is even the difference though? It’s the same dudes that have supported all this bullshit over the years and continue to do stupid shit, but just minus a clean singer. Lol
I don’t care one way or another tbh it’s just a confusing way forward and fascinating to watch this train wreck truck on
Watching wholesome things like this make me wish I could separate art from artist better. Good talent show.
I don't know how to make this sound like I'm being an asshole or a creep from digging through old posts. To preface - I knew next to nothing about this band as of like 3 days ago. Been trying to slog through this exhaustive, confusing discography. Have been copy/pasting album titles in the thread to get quick takes - and it was just funny to me of an apparent change of tune on this one from a previous post of yours that I saw. Not that there's anything wrong with that, opinions change all the time which is good. But shit. What a horrible time to decide to try and listen to this band.
I've gotten to the point where I skip DGD songs that pop up on shuffle after finishing whatever album... That's not to say I don't still listen to these guys from time to time, but it's a conscious decision to seek them out for a no go for me now (same with a certain other used to be well regarded band with a sex pest). All that said, however, I do not skip Betrayed By The Game when it pops up on shuffle, that one is still a banger 10/10 for me.
kurt has had zac garren on his recent solo tours and they've been playing a couple songs from s/t live, including that one
Kurt Travis been randomly posting DGD lyrics of songs he was on but not lyrics he sang. I don't really understand
That tour ended September last year, he's been touring with Royal Coda lately and currently. Also didn't do Self Trepidation
I was playing all of my music on shuffle waiting for a song to grab me to listen to a whole album. it was Happiness today. That really was a special time for this band. Still sounds way more refreshing than what came later, but hard to say if it's because the most recent formula went for 4-5 albums or if the Happiness era is really that much better. I do think Zach Garren brought something to the table with Will that we haven't seen since.
Happiness is def an outlier where they were doing things they’d never do again. I went years refusing to even try listening to them after they abandoned Kurt and Zach for the dbm 2 cash grab but later went on to appreciate it for what it is. Still they kept pushing that overly polished sound when tilian joined so the more raw sounding happiness and dbm2 sounds were abandoned
Yeah, overly polished/produced for sure. I can pick out what each instrument is doing much easier on Happiness than later albums. At least we got Happiness. Time to go listen to some Royal Coda to see if it scratches a similar itch.
