Do you think it’s impossible for a write to writer from the point of view of a bad person? Do you think it’s impossible for writers to write fictional stories? like it’s not mental gymnastics is understanding art isn’t real life. Thomas Erak wrote a fall of Troy song doing the same thing back in the day, it’s a fire ass song with scary lyrics that paint a picture of a maniac. It’s hard to make the argument knowing what we know about tilian but dismissing it outright just because of subject matter is stupid. Do you think horror film screen writers and directors like to kill people?

I really hate to have to make the argument because of tilian but I think music writing is held to a way different standard than other mediums of storytelling and I really don’t think much of anything on acceptance speech scans as autobiographical besides maybe the religion criticism on strawberry swisher part 3

I have no skin in the game and don't want to upset sophos more, but I do think writing from the viewpoint of a bad person becomes a little more muddy when this writer is also a bad person lol

I just wanted to comment that outside of Shelf Life and Evaporate being some all-timer DGD tracks (though I don't think it's a coincidence the first features Kurt and the second is half call-backs to the S/T), I could not name a single track on Artificial Selection

 

Son of robot, midnight crusade, care and count bassy are all great. Evaporate is the GOAT

New songs are just huge nothing burgers: based on the melodies wouldn’t be surprised at all if they’re just recycled tracks from whatever album they were working on with Tilian, everyone’s already said it better than me but it really just feels like they’re just pumping out new music so they can continue to tour for a quick buck and listening to how stale these songs are I have a hard time believing they’re even into it anymore from a creative standpoint. Band is a joke

 

I’m pretty sure will is just a freak of nature when it comes to playing the guitar and collects thousands of riffs on his personal recording system and stitches them together into songs for whatever given project he’s writing for. That’s what I meant when I said assembly line mass produced slop

 

DBM3 would be dopeeee. It'll be interesting to see how things settle down over the next year or so.

It’s weird how a certain section of fans of this band immediately jump to Jonny. People fear change enough to give that scumbag a platform again and again.

 

Hot take but I still enjoy DBM2 but yeah, Jonny is not a good person.
