I still kinda can't believe DBM2 sounds like that. I loved it but man what was the idea there

No clue, even the phone call at the end of Blue Dream was a headscratcher.

    So many possibilities now

DGD 20th Anniversary Tour with whoever the new clean cocalist is, plus Andrew, Kurt, and Jonny in 2025.

or perhaps Swan Fest 2025 could be a two day festival and feature:

    DGD
    Secret Band
    Eidola
    Royal Coda
    Gold Necklace
    A Lot Like Birds
    Jonny Craig performing Emarosa songs
    Jonny Craig performing Slaves songs

Peak Jon is DBMII. Dude didn’t have to go that hard but he did and he did it for all of us.

With that said; please no Jonny. That’s the lamest choice this band could make at this point lol

Wasn't he basically freestyling while recording vocals and they had to scrap so much cause it either didn't make sense or he was yelling lines like "DOWNTOWN BATTLE MOUNTAIN TWOOOOOO" a bunch?

DBMII rips, hated that record when it came out since Kurt was (and is) my guy but it has some bangers

Jon was trying to find his screaming voice without damaging his vocals at that point he didn’t land on a consistent style until acceptance speech

I think I first heard DGD right before DBM2, Alex English was probably the first song I heard by them. Took me a bit to appreciate Happiness

Great record ruined by Jonny half assing (that might even be generous) everything. Rest of the band goes crazy on that one.

anyway the damage with tilian has already been done this bands reputation is permanently washed in my eyes and while I still listen to them occasionally I’ll never really actively follow them again

DBM2 clears half the tilian albums imo

Same. I'm not gonna try to white knight and say I quit the band cold turkey once the Tilian news came out, but it just doesn't feel the same. Huge bummer it turned out this way, the Tilian era was becoming one of my favorite eras of a band ever right around the time the news broke. I'll give the new stuff a chance even though I'm disappointed in the band welcoming him back with open arms like they did. I'm not rushing out to support them any more than streaming though. No records or concert support from me.

Jonny recording DBM2 was kind of like Bradley Nowell recording Sublime's Robbin' The Hood and self-titled albums.

The art produced while being hooked on opiates and whatever else can be pretty wild.

Jonny was absolutely coming to the studio high as fuck on all kinds of shit and just making it up as he goes which is why so much of his lyrics make no goddamn sense hahah

He does well on some tracks but he was easily the weakest part of that record which is wild but very telling.

Glad he's out but idk if I'll ever want to listen to them again after how they handled the situation.

best track in DBMII for me has always been Blue Dream. It really fit Johnny's incoherent vocal stylings lmao

Jackpot Juicer is definitely better than my perception of it is because of everything that happened, but there is still just too many "what were they thinking here?" moments to make me think it's anywhere close to their best. Two Secret Weapons is an atrocity.
