I hate to be negative but I doubt that this has had much impact to their fandom. Streaming numbers, tours etc. don't seem to have dipped in the slightest. It's often said, but this website is rarely a reflection of the wider worlds standards for accountability except for the most egregious of cases.
this band is the bravo housewives of post hardcore. i don’t like them as people, i don’t feel good about consuming their content, but goddamn if they do not provide an endless fountain of highly entertaining drama. seriously though where is the logic in bringing back the guy with sexual assault allegations only to kick him out a year later? it’d be funny if it weren’t sad
if you have not done even a little bit of research yourself into those allegations, I would not make comments like that. what I saw was enough to make me stop listening to this band entirely and not spend any more money on merch or concert tickets
Might want to sit this one out. There was definitely enough evidence of wrongdoing that got swept under the rug.
Oh yeah, Eidola would have to take a backseat big time to fulfill this but idk.. it makes a whole lotta sense from a business perspective for Andrew. I would be surprised if he and the band didn’t seize this opportunity. Also; I would prefer him not to hit the high notes of Tilian’s anyways. I never was a fan of the super high notes and prefer Andrew’s range for DGD’s music. I was also always Kurt > Jonny when it came to vocals for the band too back in the day.. and like everything else as a human being lol
I was just wondering if Kurt has any interest in coming back, I know he did those ALLB reunion shows which makes me think he might be itching to get back to something a little heavier.
That was one of the allegations. Again, you admitted you haven't researched this. There was one after the fact that was way more damning. It got met with a collective shrug.
I saw that the thread was bumped and wanted to see what was going on. following a thread on chorus is not supporting the band I'm not gonna yell at you about your choices of who to support or not, I'm saying that I don't think that kind of opinion is welcome here. take it to reddit.
If Andrew isn’t taking the throne - bringing Kurt back would be my next pick for sure! The ALLB shows are weird to me cause Cory isn’t even involved and I don’t think Ben is either IIRC? Either way; I’m sure Kurt would gladly return given how successful DGD now is. I don’t think it would make as much sense as Andrew personally but I ain’t mad at it!
DGD was my favorite band for the longest time, and even before the accusations came out and kinda ruined them for me, the direction of the band under Tillian just got so fucking stale. I'm curious what the next move is, but it's hard to say I'll ever enthusiastically support these guys like I used to
Yea, I might be in the minority anyway as Eidola's popularity seems to be growing, but I don't really like the new Eidola album on first listen. I think the mix is both too crisp and too muddy at the same time. There's far too much going on with nearly every song and too many layers all compressed on top of each other. I like some of the songs, and it may grow on me, but I think it's over done (on my first couple of listens) to where it's a wall of noise and nothing shines. The drums, guitars, vocals, are all balls to the walls and compete too much. I also really don't like the modern 'clean' sort of syncopated recording style. Give me some feedback and some feel. It all feels so robotic and like a technical achievement vs an artistic one.
Yeah I'm a sucker for the djenty additions so I do like the overall direction, but I've become really critical of a high quality source for streaming (Qobuz or Tidal Lossless instead of Spotify), and have made a hefty investment into speakers (KEF LSX II I found on FB marketplace and a lot of IEMs to try out) and I couldn't quite figure out how to make this one sound good. Listening on the speakers now and it definitely is maxed out too much and has zero breathing room.
I’m not a big Eidola fan tbh but I do get what you’re saying with the overall production and the songs being way too busy overall. I would rather Andrew focus on DGD tbh.
While it would be hilarious, Andrew can do everything Jonny can/did do, but is a somewhat stable human being
There's no need to defend this hard... We've moved beyond the days of 'show me the receipts (police report)' and most of us can take a more nuanced approach over what behavior is acceptable / unacceptable. Screaming 'buttttttt he was innocent except for public opinion' isn't going to change anyone's minds. Consent / power dynamics play a large role in these types of allegations and it's never as simple as 'was it legal?'. It's normally just a gut check and for a lot of people, reading how Tilian behaved and spoke during some of the sexual encounters that came to public, and how he "apologized" after, was enough to slow down or stop the support completely.
