Playing in Philly and not Sac is also interesting. Hopefully this is the last one if it happens at all
Lmao, the band that was formerly called Slaves that started with Jonny Craig and then kicked him out is on this tour. Absolutely can't make this shit up.
Is he who shall not be named doing vocals on this tour? I hate that my wife wants to go. Trying my hardest to talk her out of it.
Man every time this thread gets bumped I hope against hope it's because the band put out a statement saying "We realize now how colossally we fucked up, so effective immediately, Tilian is no longer part of DGD. Additionally, we've stuffed him in a leather sack with a feral monkey and a poisonous snake and threw it into the ocean" or something along those lines.
Booting Tilian out wouldn't even suffice for me at this point. I don't fuck with the other band members, ex singers included as well, as this showed their true colors.
Been completely off the band and this sound in general since. No appeal anymore. Any bit of listening I did for the talented musicians still in the band is marred now.
Even before addressing the moral rot that comes with Tilian still in the band... Dude is bland as hell and actively dragging down the rest of the band at this point
This was one of my favorite bands for the better part of 5 years, but I've just not been able to listen to them since everything came out, even though I really miss so many songs. I looked through their Instagram recently, and seeing the crowd shots from their most recent tour really disheartened me. Just seeing a room of thousand people so throughly ambivalent to sexual violence just makes me deeply uncomfortable. I tried to hard to rationalize or make sense of the band's actions, but it just doesn't make sense. Part of my brain doesn't even want to engage anymore and just say "fuck it, everyone's awful, nothing matters" cause all the abuse in this industry has become too much weight to bear.
Just remember the vast majority of those thousand people likely have no clue what tilian was accused of or only heard one extremely biased side of it second or third hand from their friends and are unaware of what actually happened. It is disheartening to know they’re still able to play to so many people, but I’m mad at promoters, venues, and the other bands who are pretty much allowing all of this to blow over which is why so many people are seemingly okay with them
the only stuff I’ve been able to listen to by them since all of this are the handful of tracks from jackpot juicer I still enjoy and that’s just because I think Tim’s final work deserves to be heard but it’s not something I feel the need to like, talk about or anything (only mentioning it because it’s a relevant topic being discussed here). even the pre tilian stuff has been tainted in my mind since the rest of the band have proven to be complicit and now it’s hard not to view the Jonny eras through a different lens and the plausible deniability I used to be able to give them seems less and less plausible the more this goes on. Idk. Fuckin sucks since they were my most listened to band from 2018-2022 by far and even when I am able to listen to them again in private it’ll never be the same, it never is. but :/ no room for this shit in the music scene
I've been a fan since the Deathstar era (and still stand by Kurt Travis being the best era of this band by a longshot, besides the terrible shit Craig and Tillian have done). I still listen to a lot of the music relatively guilt free, though Jackpot Juicer has a strong taint to it, but I also think it's their worst album regardless. Never supporting them again, and I came oh so close to getting a Mothership tattoo before the allegations around Tillian came out, bullet dodged there.
