I think Jon's part at the end HAS to be about Jonny, talking about pulling scams. Tilian claims that it isn't about ToM, but who knows at this point.
"It's biology, and you were born to fail" is just one of a long list like "We chasing hella rich" "I'm jackin up shots, you can fight for the rebound" that sound ripped from some redpill bro subreddit. That's the specific flavor of his BS that I wanted to hold out hope might be satire, but now I'm convinced he's just a dude pushing 40 who sees himself as Alpha(TM) and can't stop telling everyone. And not to derail the thread, but I was a big ToM fan way back, and I distinctly remember him later saying he was happy to be gone from ToM because they were "too serious." Yeah, in other words they cared about the music, and it wasn't a vibe conducive to his dumb ass crooning WE CHASIN HELLA RICH and pulling 19 yo groupies every night.
Yeah, I'm not really interested in following this band much anymore. 5 years ago they were my favorite band, but now there's too much bad shit they've let slide, and I'm convinced the culture they've created is never gonna change.
I dunno it seems like this band is full of a bunch of fucked up people from a fucked up scene, and the bad behavior will continue until it becomes publicly too noticeable, after which they'll sweep it under the rug. A band that I really liked throughout high school and I enjoyed some moments of the Tilian era but I think I'm just done, its all too much added up. Maybe a line-up change and an actual look at all the shit they've done and encouraged over the years would help, but I don't really expect that much of a difference to be made. Have fun ya'll, I'm outta here
this episode was pretty damning of the whole band. throw the whole band in the trash, honestly. not a good dude in the whole thing.
Saw them last night. Andrew ruled, especially on the old stuff. Kurt coming out was so sick. The loudest I’ve heard a crowd sing a song in a while was during Uneasy Hearts.
i honestly haven't given a shit about anything this band has done in about a decade so it sucks that the one album i actually am enjoying is released right when tillian chooses to be an absolute creep.
This is the first album I've listened to apart Downtown Battle Mountain when it first came out. Could anyone recommend me the best album of theirs to get into next? Preferably one that doesn't have 97 tracks like Jackpot
Their shortest album is 'Happiness', which is often overlooked in my opinion. If you enjoy that then go to the self-titled which is the only other album with the same vocalist, Kurt Travis. After that I'd suggest going chronologically honestly.
Mothership is the consensus best Tilian album for most. Instant Gratification is a great starting point too. Happiness is on the shorter side and is completely different than both this and DBM.
Yeah, there's a few photos of him floating around being at the Orlando date watching from the balcony and also being side stage at one point. I'm really hoping he doesn't come back into the band. If he does so before they come to the UK then as much as I want to at least see Eidola I might just have to sell my ticket.
they're bringing him along on tour and hoping it all blows over, he'll be back with them in like 3 months at most.
Yeah, fuck that. Even if he isn’t coming back associating with that piece of trash is enough to keep me away from supporting them.
Watching that live video just reaffirms in my mind that Kurt's era is the best DGD has ever been. Andrew sounds great though.
Tilian has been posting DGD stuff on social media again too. at this point i'll be pretty surprised if they don't bring him back at some point in the not too distant future.
