It should’ve never posted in the first place but that’s cool if you just wanna delete it and act like what you did wasn’t fucked up and shitty to do to someone who openly has stood up for his friend getting sexually assaulted by a guy in a big band.
[edited out due to offending someone, I'm sorry everyone, will be more cautious with my posts and reading the room better before posting]
that is quite possibly the worst post I’ve seen regarding this whole thing and that’s saying something
Removed my post due to the offense it caused. I'm really sorry sophos34 and everyone else who was offended. I shouldn't have made the post and I regret it.
This band is on the smaller side of medium. They play 300 person rooms & tour with small bands like eidola. They have their niche but saying “in a big band” is beyond a stretch. He may be a monster but these guys aren’t close to famous. I’m not buying into the celebrity status. Most people don’t know this band exists. A #12 spot (they’re highest pt date) on the billboard charts is less than 20k units. I agree he used his influence but he isn’t a mega celebrity preying on people. He is working the pool of his minor fan base to manipulate them.
At this point it can’t be isolated to certain members. There’s a culture within the members of this band that allows & breeds behavior that is appalling. TL;DR Where there’s smoke, there’s fire.
DGD can headline to over 2500 people a night in most cities, but really that's not even relevant. The exact level of fame anyone has really doesn't have a bearing on their ability to abuse their power, and the fact someone thought that was even worth bringing up is beyond baffling. Parasocial relationships exist at any level of fame.
I wonder if the band would have to buy Tilian out of his contract in order to remove him from the band. They gotta know that most of the fanbase would fully support replacing Tilian with Kurt. So them not just moving forward with a decision like that makes me think that there are some sort of legal obstacles involved with kicking Tilian out. Maybe they have every intention of cutting ties with Tilian, but are waiting to fulfill their promotional obligations with this new album before doing so.
speaking purely from a musical standpoint: hearing the two singles so far makes me excited to hear this album knowing its the swan song of this era. The two songs really nail what this era does well, and I hope the rest of the songs are the same, but I think it was time for a major shakeup in their sound. I hate that it took Tilian being an awful human being for it to happen, but it does make me excited for a fresh take on their sound for the first time in 6 albums.
this band has had a hell of a year. i don’t blame them for moving forward as planned with the new release but already talking about new stuff atp implies they know what they’re gonna do about the vocalist situation and they’re just not saying, which is kind of baffling. the official statement on their twitter implies that they’re a four piece though, and it’s not like they don’t already have a clean vocalist in the mix…idk.
