They were very careful to not directly say anything about "what" he did or what they thought about it and just that they took it seriously. It was basically as careful, professional and nice of a statement as you can make as a business/band. At least we have the instrumental versions of many albums for anyone who can't stand to hear his voice anymore (I'd like to get some Jon only mixes)
man this bands fanbase has alot of garbage people. old and new fans. ive seen it before and im seeing it now.
Ironically I discovered this band a few days ago by looking at Tilian's twitter account. He reposted them.
Tim is in the Tree Village video though and was playing live since Happiness. Kurt brought him into the band. Tim also performed during the DBM2 cycle. So even if Acceptance Speech is the first album Tim wrote on, he at least was in the band before. Tim's legacy in DGD goes beyond his work with Tilian.
I think it'll be awhile before this whole thing gets settled. There's definitely a lot of legal aspects none of us know about in regards to dealing with this since as far as I know, no one here really knows what his contract with the band is. Is Tilian an official "member" of the band? Or is he essentially just hired as a lead singer?
This really sucks because they were really happy with the fact that they had videos filmed with Tim to release. But I completely agree with you
Yeah real dismissive based on what I’ve seen to say it’s all terrible. The Facebook group people have always been bad but there’s tons of support on twitter for the victims
Every band this popular has good and bad fans honestly. Facebook usually brings out the worst of the fans
A pretty telling quote from Tilian. I found it in an old reddit post of his... "I’m not perfect and I’m certainly not a role model for morality. I’d rather be a role model for hard work and persistence toward an artistic and musical craft." I wish I had known at the time what his views on morality actually meant.
I'm definitely in the camp of not loving the phrase "stepping away from", but the possible reasonings given here are fair and that's to see in the future so it is what it is for now. Glad they made a statement.
Yeah, I'm cautiously optimistic about this statement. The band must be dealing with unbearable stress right now, and I hope they can all continue artistic endeavors despite this. Also, I think a huge part of changing the culture around abuse in this scene is making sure that the personalities on stage reflect the demographics of their (highly female) audience. So on the off-chance that a non-male vocalist or bassist joins the band at some point, that would be a really strong step going forward.
And regardless of the verbiage chosen, it’s just good that Tillian will no longer have that same access to fans.
A non-male vocalist would be sick, all of this sucks but hoping they try to make things right as best as they can. Tilian can fuck off tho.
I don’t see them adding another vocalist when they just hired Andrew as a full time contributing member, I mean he’s right there and his voice is insane
Agreed. Honestly I thought at first it would be good to bring another clean vocalist because Andrew could be too taxed vocally but then as someone else pointed out he was doing Eidola before some DGD shows recently. So I’m sure he’ll be fine
Yeah that’s honestly best case scenario, it’ll come down to how Andrew feels about it all, and if he wants to prioritize DGD over Eidola.
