Yeah 14 songs is a lot, probably going to be some clunkers

Yeah I'm kind of surprised they keep putting out records with so many tracks on them. Especially because, at least from what I've seen, Mothership was kind of polarizing among the fans and that record had 13 tracks. Granted length doesn't necessarily mean bloated or bad if it's used well but it is something to keep in mind for sure.

Also since Tilian joined the band they've had a record with 11 tracks, 12 tracks, 13 tracks, and now 14 tracks in a row. Weird.

It was probably my largest complaint regarding Mothership. It’s definitely, sonically and musically, their most dense record and yet they made it 13 tracks...which by the time you get to Man of the Year you’re exhausted. Some of the tracks could be cut to make a more streamlined and effective album too.

I don’t know, I kind of felt that exhaustion on IG but it ended just in time. I’m a huge advocate for album flow and progression (probably from my love of Coheed at a young age) so it irks me when artists put that aside for having more tracks just cause

Oh god, I am so excited for this. Almost pre-ordered the shirt, but then realized I already have 3 DGD shirts. haha Also, I am way excited about how many tracks there are on here.

I’ve been telling my DGD-loving friends that I’ve been wanting them to change it up again on this next album in terms of the overall sound and really feel fresh again. Mothership had moments of that for sure, but I’d love a big risk/curveball at this point in their career.

The song titles and cover seem different to me. Some sound like “normal DGD titles” but then you have like... Suspended In This Disaster, Bloodsucker, and Evaporate. Paired with that album art, I wonder if this’ll be a darker record. The more poppy route is honestly I think what people are expecting after Summertime Gladness, I'd love the exact opposite. Idk, I’m probably just projecting my hopes for something different onto the info we have haha

I love seeing longer track listings, I always thought that was a bizarre complaint. As I’ve become more of a full album listener, I’m starting to get it more, but I still largely judge an album by how many good/great songs it has and in that regard the more the merrier.

Also the album art is fantastic. Best yet. Very stoked.

Yeah, there’s just something special about an album that flows together as a complete work, and is one of the key factors that can take a great album and make it phenomenal. DGD is mostly a “singles”-ish band, except for Happiness and IG (for me), so seeing a 14 track album makes me cautious, not because I don’t think it will be quality, but I want them to get into that “phenomenal” tier that I think they are capable of

Length and all, I actually think Mothership is my personal favorite album of theirs. However, I do think that Happiness is their objective "best" album, and it could take my #1 spot on any given day depending on my mood. Happiness is so good it's almost not fair.

By the way, MerchNow says the ship date for preorders is July 27, 2018, which is a Friday, but that could just be a placeholder date because underneath it just says "Summer 2018, Date TBA" or something, so I just put "Summer 2018" in the title and will change it when we know for sure.

I loved Mothership and Summertime Gladness so I’m pumped for this. The fact they took some extra time also makes me hopeful that this will be really special.

mothership was incredible, easily their best album with tilian and i think it's quality all the way through. i love longer albums though. i'm incredibly stoked that this one is 14 songs. and that cover is amazing. and SON OF ROBOT! i hope we get those tour dates soon. i'm really hoping for a portland date in june, i'm planning a vacation and i want to see DGD badly!

Their touring second guitarist for the past few years, who’s also been one of their guitar collaborators on Mothership and now this album. He’s also the frontman for the band Eidola, check them out!

Eidola is easily the most unique band on Blue Swan Records imo, I highly recommend checking their last album To Speak, To Listen.

I fucking love this band so much. They honestly are the most underrated band in current post-hardcore. Can’t wait for this.

Also Kurt on a new DGD track has me so hype.
