Guys I think we know what we’re getting with DGD at this point in their career. Mess isn’t going anywhere, Tilian is going to sing some catchy parts, and Will and Matt are going to shred their respective instruments. I’m into it.
I disagree with the idea that we shouldn’t expect a band’s sound to change because it hasn’t for a few albums. That makes no sense to me, and if DGD keeps releasing albums that sound the same, I’ll definitely lose interest. That said, new single is alright. It’s not really grabbing me atm but I’m still looking forward to the album. The video was great though.
Will said in an interview once "Having a DBM3 would mean having Jonny come back, and that's not really something we wanna do at this point in our careers" Also, Jon was way more annoying in DBMII and Mothership than he was in any other album. Let's just hope he doesn't keep it up too much.
They do switch it up, but it's been pretty minimal from Acceptance Speech on. They throw a few curveballs, but it never deviates too far from the tried and true formula. Variation is probably the most different sounding thing they've done.
Mess is never annoying to me personally. He adds a good texture to the sound, and plays off Tilian well.
Just out of interest, what do the people who want change from this band actually want? New instruments? New genres?
I love Jon, but it's hard to explain to people why you're listening to music with lyrics such as "I know that you look like a child abuser" and "a butthole full of cancer spreading meat"
the issues guy was very boring. i think mess's lyrics are what would happen if you translated will's guitar work directly into words. weird out there lines that focus way more on the way you hear a word vs. what it means (but still packs meaning)
I don't know about y'all, but I don't want more songs Like Exposed. The juxtaposition between the two of them is what makes DGD unique to me.
i just like the back and forth shit. stuff like variation or stroke god is my favorite. way more interesting and effective than the scream/sing metalcore formula
listening through Mothership and whoa, I forgot how good the chorus of Betrayed By the Game is. What an earworm.
