i wish i could dig up the original audio file for that interview lol, i think he was concerned with the band not completely pandering but also keeping up with what's interesting in rock and i think they've held to that for the most part. i'm conflicted about jon's vox cause i'm not sure where they would exist if it was just tillian? i don't think the band would magically get on radio or anything like that
Mess is the reason I like this band. I had hyper puritan parents who wouldn't let me dance growing up but I managed to convince them to let me listen to post-hardcore via Underoath. Music with screaming became an outlet to how repressed I was in that environment. The first time I ever danced for more than like 2 seconds was listening to "Stroke God, Millionaire" during the bridge when Mess was laying it down. Suddenly the reason why people danced clicked. I remember I was in my sister's driveway. I saw DGD two times that year and danced for most of their set. I'd be pretty sad if it was just a Tilian album. There's nothing else like dancing to screaming.
Looks like 'Midnight Crusade' was put up but taken down almost immediately - Guessing you guys above got to hear it before it came down? Or a leak?
Fuckkkkk, I wanna listen to it!!! But I'm on a road trip in the middle of nowhere and my signal is too weak!!!
The intro is a bit grating, but it's so fast and poppy and I love it. Kinda sounds like it was co-written by Tyler Carter. Not the biggest fan of the vocal recording and mixing but that's just nitpicking. (And that bridge is incredible. Especially the way Will makes the guitar sound like a synth, as if it was an electronic part.) Also it might be just me but Jon's voice is changing. A bit higher and less saturated.
