I think Mothership will be the magnum opus with Tillian, but this is still pretty darn good. The Rattler is DGD on all cylinders and I love it. Wish there was a bit more of that.

The chorus on Flash reminds me of Death of a Strawberry every time.

 

first 7 or 8 tracks on this thing are some of the band's best work

 

Rattler’s the only song I don’t like, but agree with Flash. Also reminds me of frozen one.

 

The Rattler, Flash, Bloodsucker, and Story of my Bros are probably my favorite tracks off the record.

 

The first 5 tracks are incredibly strong, but we got 4 of those 5 before the album came out and I've played them to death already

Son of Robot is by far my favorite song on the album, think I'd round out my current top 3 with Count Bassy and... Hair Song!

 

Hair Song is good. Tillians melody on the chorus(?) is prob the best on the whole album.

 

holy crap this verse and chorus of Gospel Burnout. definite low point.

 

Tilian gave a brief explanation on the lyrics in Bloodsucker as well:

This gets so exhausting because it sounds the same.

First song I loved was Rattler and then Kurt shows up in the next song and I was in love.

Bring Kurt Back is what I took from it

 

the Kurt track is my very least favorite one

never thought Id type something like that out

 

But can we talk about why Midnight Crusade sounds so different from the rest of the album?

It has very nursery rhyme pop-punky melodies, rougher vocals, much more chord-driven, has a weird deserty vibe, Mess' sections are mixed really weird, as are most of the guitar parts.

nope, I disagree with all of that.

 

There's so much unnecesary treble and high mids in the lead guitar and screams, it makes the song unlistenable at some volumes.

And that opening melody: Oof, I mean I got used to it, but it's so fake and cheesy sounding.

 

Midnight Crusade is compressed to all hell its so obvious after the intro and the screams start the track goes from feeling really open and big to feeling super squished and small

 

I like midnight crusade but there is absolutely nothing about it that stands out to me.

 

I’m really liking this album, much more so than Mothership. Sounds like a throwback album similar to what PTV was trying to do with Misadventures

 

Man I seriously love Slouch

 

I thought Hair Song was weak. I was wrong

 

Evaporate is just a awesome ending. Record goes out strong imo

 

I love Gospel Burnout, really wish Mess did the melodic scream much more often
