did people get their vinyls today? I bought the puzzle package (lol) and received an email that it was delayed. So I'm not sure if they are sending vinyls separately or sending it together.
i didn't get a download link either, just the card in the vinyl sleeve so they may just not be sending?
the end of Evaporate rang 100% hollow to me I think its because the guitars and the structure are generic scene straight outta 2006 sounding
Yeah so for me the callback vocals on top of that feel like they dont earn anything I felt like I was supposed to be wowed but I really just felt it was lame. Just my 2 cents.
Milkshake bro I’m wondering why you even bothered with this since you’ve been down on them since IG. Like s/t is my fav album, but c’mon. I can still find a lot to love on here, as well as all their albums.
Evaporate just works. Slouch, and The Rattler are probably the ones that I’ll be revisiting the most. I loved the Kurt song the most on first listen, but I do agree it doesn't really go anywhere. It was probably just the novelty of hearing Kurt with them again. I mean he does sound amazing on it tho
I bothered with it because I think theyve written alot of great songs in the Tillian era. So either youre mixing me up with someone else or Ive said something before that was harsher than what I meant for it to sound. I think either IG or Mothership are the best of the Tillian era. This one feels like it may be the worst of this era.
Hmmmmm ok. I thought I remeber you being pretty down on IG especially. I thought you said you only liked two songs from it. For what it’s worth I already know I like mothership more than this. Artificial Selection is a little bloated, and Tilian I think could have written some better melodies on some of this.
I re checked wiki and spotify I really like 4 songs on AcSp, 7 songs on IG, and 7 songs on Mothership. I mean I might like IG the most haha.
3rd listen with expectations tempered Son of Robot Midnight Crusade Suspended In This Disaster Count Bassy (hate that ending) Slouch Hair Song Bloodsucker are pretty cool. Care’s bridge is sweet. this album feels a bit overtly “scene” sometimes I think
Curious why Tillian didnt have any nearly screaming parts on this album like was featured prominently on the last album. This album has plenty of heavier or hectic parts for that to go over. I dont feel like he has to do it but Id never heard anyone else sound like that before. Its pretty curious that its completely absent here.
That’s true. His grittier vox are p much abscent from this. Though it at times sounded like he was shredding his throat on Mothership.
That was one of the things that I really liked about Mothership. I'm not a huge fan of his voice but I really liked those moments.
So after a few listens now I think I would have to say this might be my least favorite Tillian album. It does have its moments and compared to alot of other bands I listen to, this is a very solid album but I really loved Mothership so the bar was set high. I usually never try to understand what Jon is screaming about but I really am curious on Story of My Bros, anyone venture to guess?
