Why the hell would they not get Kurt to sing the S/T parts at the end of Evaporate? Like... how do you fuck that one up? In any case, I like this album. I don't know why I ever doubt this band. Everything they do works for me (to varying degrees, obviously, but still).
Not gonna lie, whenever I play Self-Titled I listen to Alex English, then barely pay attention and skip around until Me & Zoloft, then skip through to Burning Down The Nicotine Armour 2 and Skyhook
So I just recently got into this band. Made my way through Downtown Battle Mountain 2 today. What a record. I really dig the Tillian stuff (new record and Acceptance Speech do it for me) but this album almost makes me want more DGD with Craig. I didn't like DBM nearly as much as this. DBM2 may be my favorite of their discog so far.
Gave this a listen on the damn bus on the way to work which was a bad idea, but honestly I found it no more than 'good' first time around . The majority my enjoyment of this band comes from diving deeper into the instrumental side of things anyway, so with more listens and more understanding I'm sure my appreciation will increase!
Every time DGD releases new music, I end up saying to myself, “oh, great, more reason for them to play less music of theirs that I care about.” This album is fine, it has had the same impact the last one had on me in that I don’t feel like I want to come back to it. Love the Kurt feature and the throwback.
