Tilian’s said that honey revenge is from the point of view of a stalker and it’s supposed to be fucked up, so it doesn’t bother me any more than songs from the point of view of any criminal would. I also don’t see how being upset about a breakup makes the entitled lyrics in pussy vultures any better.
For me I see it as writing about rape through the eyes of a stalker to be silly or for whatever reason (idk) is super in poor taste
Still don't see the problem with Pussy Vultures. People are allowed to be selfish. That's part of life. I understand the tone is little whiny, but it's not morally egregious or anything. I understand that Honey Revenge is satirical, but it still puts me off just cause it's so awkward. It's not really making a social commentary, it's just weird.
Remember when albums in general used to leak more than 7 days in advance? I wasn't in the leaking scene when that happened, but apparently it used to be like that.
I can see your point of view for sure, but to me the lyrics read as a commentary on the certain type of men that "swoop in" when they "see an opportunity", so to speak, and the emotions these guys' actions bring up. I think the fact the ex-gf and her feelings/emotions are not elaborated on is to keep the focus on those types of men rather than question any choices or her agency. Particularly the lines "my best friend said "hey Jon, screw you!"/Now I'm confused, I don't know what to do" doesn't question the ex-gf but gives an example of the mindset and morals of those types of men and Jon's emotional reaction to it being his best friend acting in that way. Then the "Don't think it won't happen to you" part after that could be read as you've explained, but also in a "she will move on and you will have to deal with this confusion sooner or later" way? (I don't post this to say you are incorrect btw! And you are bang on about the "vulnerable" line too; just wanted to see what others thought about the song and get some other perspectives!)
I remember when I loved BMTH and Sempiternal leaked 3 months in advance lol Even I couldn't resist and I was really anti leaks back then
I hope this is released officially today because I can't use that certain site until way later tonight.
Will not be listening to any leaks (am an good boy) - can I ask you guys how similar is it to Midnight Crusade, style-wise?
Not at all really There's an almost celtic-leaning riff during Mess' screams, and Tilian's parts are all more processed and poppy, but the music is ultimately much more anthemic. Lots of high pitched "oooooeeeeesaaaaaaaaa"s from Tilian over clean guitars. Less of a Rock/Pop song, more just DGD doing their thing
Also I can barely hear what Tilian is saying "What hurts you the most is always a (dirty back room?)" "LeeeeiiiiiiooooooooooooOoOooooooooooo" Also Mess' screams are bit higher, almost nasally
holy shit, so much amazing guitar work going on in this song, this is awesome, and i feel like the vocals really compliment the guitars without showing off too much
Song rips. Can't wait to hear a version that doesn't sound like it's playing through someone's ass. Needs more Mess though. Two singles so far have been mostly Tilian - this one especially. Hopefully this isn't a trend.
