All 4 songs were super similar to eachother and maybe that would have lost its sparkle over the course of a full album but fuck man that shit was so good

theyre pretty good at some riffs and time sigs

 

They're also very emotional, which is something that DGD struggles with comparatively (other than on Deathstar, I believe). And the post-rock influences are gorgeous. And they take the more nonsensical lyrics and add an emotional levity to them. If you don't like it that's fine, but I find it hard to disagree that No Place is emotionally on an entirely different plane than ~90% of what DGD wrote

 

I like ALLB and No Place. Im not the type of person to be interested in evaluating or discussing how emotional or not any of it is, if thats part of the equation. Thats on me.

I'm gonna give DIVISI another shot, but yeah, the Kurt ALLB albums are top tier.

 

It's always bugged me that For Shelley (Unheard) starts out its chorus exactly the same as On the Run.

 

I’ve actually never listened to ALLB before but I listened to for shelley out of curiosity and the similarity to On the Run is truly remarkable.

Album - Royal Coda - Royal Coda (April 27, 2018)

Kurt’s new band’s album comes out later this month.

 

I just got done listening to the singles. Its good but I personally would like to see him be in something thats a departure from all of this kind of stuff.

 

I just hope Kurt can stick to a project for longer than a week

 

I was hoping Eternity Forever would provide him the opportunity to branch out, but I guess not

 

Dang I forgot how much I like the intro to On the Run.

Way too much going on in that shirt. Should have had just DGD on the front, the arch as Artificial Selection and a white outline of the tree design on the back

 

DGD are usually bad with shirt designs imo

 

Oh snap the new Royal Coda single is the best one yet

 

also strangely I havent liked any if their album art past Happiness

Yeah. I think Artificial Selection is their best artwork since Happiness. The past two were pretty weak

 

I don't know how I'd rank their albums, I mostly have a connection to Self titled and Happiness but the Tilian stuff has all been solid.
