Jonny’s melodies on DBM are excellent. But yeah his melodies literally everywhere else are boring as shit.

Also all 3 DGD singers are awful lyricists.

 

Kurt has some decent lyrics imo

 

Overall/on average awful, not exclusively awful. Broken clocks and infinite monkeys and all that jazz.

 

i liked jonny on DBM1, but, i think his parts sound incredibly lazy on DBM2. the writing, melodies, delivery, pitch, everything. it's a shame because i feel like jon mess used his melodic screaming the most on that album which i really like, and the music was quite interesting. but, i almost never return to that album because of how much jonny's parts bore me.

 

Jon Mess on DBM2 is fantastic.

His screams in the first minute of Robot With Human Hair 2 1/2 are golden.

 

Gonna be devil's advocate: Jonny's parts on DBM II are my favorite part of it.

The way he sings "You're busy fucking everyone, busy fucking everyone" on Elder Goose is one of the best parts of DGD's discography.

His lyrical game is also really good on that album the prechorus to Heat Seaking Ghost "I can't believe I'm better than you know" as well as the entirety of Elder Goose is pure gold.

Also the intro to Purple Reign is the bounciest happiest sounding melody to combine with those dark lyrics.

 

One funny thing about the criticisms of Jonny on DBM2 is - and I'm by no means the first person to point this out - prior he'd been accused over being way too emotive and over the top with his delivery, so then he tones it down on the next album and gets accused of phoning it in.

I mean it's just as well because fuck that guy, but still kinda funny.

 

Of all the dirtbags that got outed last year, Jonny is the one I am deadset on never listening to again. I’ll revisit Brand New, and Pierce the Veil on occasion. Jonny’s shit though, might be the most vile shit of all the band dudes/actors that were outed last year. And I know, last year wasn’t Jonny’s first time getting revealed as a shitty person. It was just what I’d call the worst from all these years. Fuck that dude.

 

Plus his urge to look like a soundcloud rapper doesn't help.

I know this was a rhetorical q but I’m sure there’s someone out there blaming the victims for not going to the police so I figured I’d throw it out there

 

Another reason I really like DBMII and IG are how aggressively sexual and emotional the lyrics are in those albums.

Jonny/Tilian's delivery on "Busy fucking everyone" (Elder Goose) and "Take Off All Your Clothes, Baby Lemme Blow Your Mind" (Stroke, God, Millionaire) respectively are just mind-meltingly good.

 

Two girlfriends came out about being raped, he also forced heroine into one(or tried to). He also got nudes from underage girls.

 

Jonny Craig is a piece of shit? Still? Shocker.

For real though- I hope he goes to jail.

 

Mess is at his best on DBM II and JC is decent in a few tracks as well.

The record ain’t as bad as I remember it to be but I rarely ever come back to it.
