Watched the video again and yeah the song is just meh. Chorus is fine but that’s it aside from the end with Mess.
The single was fine but seemed like more of the last album, interested that the album apparently is risky with a lot of different sounds tho. It'd make sense to release the most standard song first too, but I won't get my hopes up too high.
Loving the song more and more with each listen tbh (The ending gets me fucken hyped every time!), same thing happened with almost every 'single' or song they've ever released before an album came out - out of the 10 or so songs they've released early since AS, only We Own The Night and Betrayed By The Game have been instant-classic status for me, and I'd put those two in their top 5 best ever songs. Those two were also not the first songs released from their respective albums either, so we will have even more to come before June.
New song is good, went back and listened to Happiness yesterday and Will kills them unclean vocals, wish they'd do another with him having some more involvement on the unclean side.
Yeah it worked really well with Kurt's vocals, think it might be a little too much going from Tillian's vocals to Will's though
That it's their most polished and well-done album, but *some* people think it's a little too dense to casually enjoy. But it's still their most commercially successful record to date, at least of the Tilian era, and Inspire The Liars has become a staple of their live show.
i havent listened to this band in a while (besides happiness which i always listen to) i think im gonna run through some of their albums today
Mothership is definitely my favorite of the non-Kurt records. I still have a huge soft spot for S/T and Happiness tho.
This is pretty much how I feel. Mothership is definitely bloated but they were on a pretty good creative streak with that album as there are a ton of good ideas and songs.
For what my opinion is worth, I actually just barely rank Mothership above Happiness as my favorite overall of their records, but that's only because I slightly prefer Tillian as a singer to Kurt and because I find the direction they went with Mothership to be my own personal ideal of what I want this band to be.
