I agree with what you say about Jonny completely lol. dude wrote like one good melody (the chorus for "Lemon Meringue Tie") and then just coasted by on how his voice naturally sounds. it's actually hilarious after all the hype for DBM2 how he just comes into every song going "hmmmmmmhyeahhhhh" soulfully on every chorus and clearly didn't give a shit. dude sucks, Kurt is the most creative and talented of them by a longshot

Jonny had plenty of help finding melodies on DMII. Pretty sure the band even said that when he was let go the second time.

DBMII is one of their best albums just for the instrumentals alone. Funky post-hardcore on steroid is my jam

 

dbm2 has production problems by comparison to happiness but it is the last album from them before they switched over to this new production style theyve been doing since tilian joined. I prefer how the older production style sounds, particularly the guitars.

 

I just love everything about Happiness and wish they had made a follow up it.

 

Same. New Royal Coda is the closest thing I've found to that. Will and Kurt back together is pure magic.

Co-signing the latest Royal Coda. I wasn't into the first at all but the addition of Kurt really did something imo. I don't think I could dislike anything he and Will do together

 

Well fuck, prisoner is basically an Acceptance Speech song with better production. Songwriting is just as strong, and has that darker overtone

My hope is that the album is more psychedelic/trippy - this first song/video seem like decent indication that it might be, but I'm probably just thinking that because the Sianvar guitarist guests on it lol. Would be a cool direction to go in imo.
