says the fans defending an ignorant asswipe while ignoring his previous comments because they just love the band.

 

I'm not the biggest Tilian fan but I think the way he reacted in the moment is pretty understandable

 

Matt having shown signs of relapse early on in the tour should’ve called for a response then from the band, who decided allowing him to stay on the tour and continuing was the best option. It wasn’t, and this is where it wound up.

I also find it remarkable to say something along the lines of “Yeah Matt’s an addict, and that’s sad, but he has a job to do and he knows what’s expected of him.” And I’M the one who doesn’t have a grasp on addiction?

He’s been in the band for how long now? Oh the beginning right? Never once had a bad night before this? He didn’t deserve that response and Tilian, in all his arrogance, had no place to say that shit onstage. If you wanna insult my intelligence and experience with addiction, then go ahead, do you, and then review this incident on Twitter and see how many other people found it shitty too.

 

First of all, fuck Twitter. It's a cesspool that exists for people to whine and bitch about everything in the world, including a nice sunset.

And I follow basically the whole Blue Swan Family on social media and the response to Tilian is NOWHERE near the level you're portraying it is. The majority of fans are with Matt and understanding Tilian's reaction.

Sounds like you have a hair up your ass towards him for reasons you make up in your own head. Get the fuck off Twitter and you'll be happier.

 

who gives a shit what people on Twitter think. if you’re drawing from your own experiences that’s great and fair but I find it extremely hard to believe that anyone who’s been through this would see it as anything other than a mild overreaction, unless that is you already have a weirdly personal beef with dude which you clearly do but do your thing

that was one of the greatest shows I’ve ever been to and one hell of a first concert back since the pandemic, I was in my feelings multiple times

 

couple minutes of son of robot i took. tilian is seriously impressive. obviously he's not perfect but he's a lot more on point than i expected and i love his stage presence him and jon look like theyre having so much fun up there together. and of course jon is a fucking beast live, seriously impressed by his performance the most of anybody besides will and andrew just noodling away on their guitars like its nothing. and matt is one of my favorite drummers ever but to say dakota did a good job filling in would be an understatement, dakota is slaying it back there. the last time i saw them was february 2010, not too long before kurt and zac g left, at a tiny little club in st louis. they have come so fucking far since then and im so happy i finally got to see them again and as someone who absolutely love every tilian album to death there's no setlist they could've played that i would've been upset with. highlights for me were son of robot, lyrics lie, evaporate, strawberry's wake, and we own the night but again i was so fucking happy the entire time with the dumbest grin on my face yelling and singing every word right along with them. and i went alone! and i had the best time of my life!! i have no idea why im rambling and gushing so much but it meant a lot to me to be able to go to this concert and their performance did not disappoint in the least.

 

I love when other people love this band as much as I do - Thanks for sharing the vid @sophos34 (the "say you don't hate me for nothing..." part when it's just Tilian + Will is maybe my all-time favourite DGD moment, I could listen to it 100x in a row and never get tired of it), makes me happy to hear how much people enjoy their shows

 

Going to shows alone is so tight bc you can do whatever the fuck you want and sing as loud as you want and don't have to worry about finding your friends after or whatever and can just fully submit to the vibes. Hard recommend

 

Dance Gavin Dance is probably my most listened to band ever. In terms of all time favorites, easy top 5 possibly top 3, but I seriously always fucking listen to them. That’s the benefit of a huge discog with a few different singers, so much variety and it never gets old to go through all their shit, I’ve got a mega mix with about 4-6 songs per album that I just toss on shuffle all the fucking time

 

I’m so happy you had a great time!!!! I had the same emotions as you when I saw them last week. They’re a special band that connects people from all walks of life ❤️

 

Really happy to hear all of this. Every time I’ve seen them I’ve also left with a huge grin on my face. I was bummed I had to miss them coming through LA due to having to isolate after getting breakthrough COVID, but this makes me more excited to catch them next time around.

 

Really need to see them again. I only saw them in a TINY club shortly after Happiness came out which was a blast, and at Warped Tour with Jonny after DBMII came out. Tilian era is my favorite so I am seriously due to see them again.

 

I've lost track of the number of times I've seen them I think.

I saw them with Kurt in 2008 after self titled, I think 2009 after Happiness came out with Lower Definition supporting, 2011 I think at a big local scene festival when Johnny was back in (would've been my first time seeing them with Mess I guess), 2012 after Johnny was kicked out when they toured with ALLB and Kurt and Matt Geise shared vocals on alternating songs for DGD, saw them in 2015 during the Instant Gratification tour... Not sure if I saw them during the Acceptance Speech tour or not, I know I saw them at another festival that was at a baseball field, don't remember when that was but ALLB was there and I think I won the ticket from Absolute Punk lol

I think my favorite was 2012 -- the Kurt era was special for me so after he was kicked out I felt pretty let down. Getting to see him front the band again, and with Jon Mess this time, and Matt Geise there to do his part on "Rock Solid"... Kurt and Jon even did the skit lol it ruled. Loved that show

 

Tides of Man opened up for them when I saw them in a small club, I embarrassingly remember me and my buddy going up to Tilian and saying he was awesome and that he sounded like Anthony Green, lol. This was before Empire Theory came out. I remember picking up their demo on CD.

 

Damnit Empire Theory is so good. I would've loved to see them around then and when Dreamhouse came out.

 

Yeah I love those Tides of Man albums, also super jealous of anyone who got to see them with Tilian.
