I listened to Acceptance Speech 2 again last week. Bleh. It opens up with 2 tracks that sound like DGD on autopilot. Then from there the album can get much too sceney weeny. It was fairly disappointing when it was released - got the job done but definitely not full up to snuff - we were just glad they didn’t break up at the time. There’s 4 tracks that are mostly good all the way through.

 

Agree with all of this except Jesus H. Macy being them on autopilot, it is a great song! I still remember the first time I heard that live video of them playing it, that opening riff blew me away then switch to the 2nd half of the song is 10/10

I like the song but it doesn’t floor me, it sounds like it could be a much less exciting Kurt era b side or something minus Tilman obv

I have an unhealthy obsession with blasting Say Hi.

 

I was listening to Say Hi and thinking "this song sounds like a Secret Band song", look it up, one of the Secret Band guys (that's not already in DGD) plays on the song. Go figure

I had never listened to this band before, but I dig a few songs on here

 

Secret Band is the shit

 

LP2 is unbelievable, "Bloomer" is probably top 5 from any DGD-related project for me

 

Could not get into Secret Band for the life of me, I hate to say it because it’s really good

Mess’ chorus on Parody Catharsis is so goddamn good idk how it’s that good

 

Jon's verse at the end of Nothing Shameful is unironically great. I'll never forget to clap for plants after that.

 

Been listening to this while working for a deadline, so I haven’t really paid attention in detail. I feel like the second half of the album falls a little flat and starts to sound all the same like one song. I need to shuffle her around and see if that shakes anything up. I will say that I love over Tilian’s singing on Say Hi.
