Alright heard the album twice so far and I'm loving this! First time I heard Calentamiento Global I didn't realize the whole song was spanish, I just thought maybe the bridge or something would be so I was shocked lol. After the initial shock thou it's great! Three Wishes and One in a Million are good, but Catharsis onward this album goes full throttle. I don't get all the Born to Fail hate thou.. that song straight up reminds of the ToM days with Tilian.

Born to fail got way better for me when I realized Mess was saying “only bangers from now on”, and also because he goes in hard on (presumably) Jonny at the end.

 

That's what I kept thinking. He's not as showy as in the past few albums, and many riffs and melodies remind me of the S/T days.

 

I get it and that's a recurrent problem with overly technical bands like them or like Protest The Hero. I don't know how they manage to write new stuff with so many albums under their belt.

 

Joe Arrington posted that he co-wrote Born To Fail, which also features Sergio on guitar. dang, that one definitely must have been originally a Sianvar song!

I’ve listened to Nothing Shameful 7x today

 

The only song I’ve skipped has been Lyrics Lie because I burnt myself out a bit when the single dropped. Every song hits and I haven’t connected with a DGD album like this since IG. So worth the wait and the hype

 

Nothing Shameful and One in a Million are the ones stuck in my head most often.

 

Both bops forsure

 

I love Parallels so much even though it’s a simpler song for them.

 

Alright, FINE, this is their best album

I don't know where it lands among my personal rankings, but this is, start to finish, the best they've sounded in like 10 years.

 

Yeah they really nailed this. Tim also has some beefy bass lines.

 

I just listened to happiness today, first time in a long time. That record still holds up really well. I think Kurt is easily the best clean lyricist (unfair to compare to Jon) and it makes me bummed that DBMII didn’t feature Kurt instead of Jonny. But, from what I understand, the band planned on breaking up after DBMII, so another record with Kurt was never in the cards I guess.

 

Parallels feels like Slouch with its shirt turned inside out. Idk.

Parody Catharsis is a mood.

This album is a slow burn for me and I kind of like it that way.

 

imagine if DGD broke up after DBMII... things would be a lot different, they've had a huge impact on the genre and moving it forward in the last 5 years.

 

I haven’t thought about that in a while, but I do remember them saying they planned to do DBMII with Jonny and then break up. I can only imagine how happy they are now that plans changed.

 

I’ll never forget having a conversation with Will Swan and him awkwardly asking for me to buy him a drink then leaving when I wouldn’t lol
