I only listened to the leak once on Monday and am waiting for better quality tomorrow, but I am getting so impatient haha.

 

I do appreciate the idea of shaking things up with different sounding vocal parts but idk I’m not a big fan of Andrew Wells. Though he does sound better here than last album I think.

 

I think the songs with Wells are probably 2 of the better songs they have recorded on the last 2 albums. I still am not feeling this new one. Probably listened to it 6 times so far. Already deleted the spanish track and one in a million from my computer. Just terrible songs IMHO

 

Tilian does dumb things, but I think you’re reaching a bit there.

 

Yeah it’s also worth noting that I pulled the Spanish lyrics down from genius, which can’t be correct since the album isn’t out yet, and then plugged it into google translate. I just thought it was funny, I wouldn’t read too much into that other than, yeah, maybe he wrote a song about his Hispanic fiancé being hot.

 

Mad Chocolate Jackalope vibes on Nothing Shameful. That ones getting stuck in my head a lot.

 

I wonder what this is. I just submitted my proof of purchase, so hopefully I hear back soon.

It's been tolerable in the past, but haven't enjoyed it much. Only in Eagles I can't stand it, so as long as it doesn't reach that then I should be fine. Still excited nonetheless! You've been hyping up that spanish section for me haha

 

I hope I haven't overhyped it. I'll probably stay away from song impressions, I don't want to ruin anyone else's first listen. But from a whole album perspective, I don't know how someone could like the last 4 and not like this one.

 

Honestly all the reactions have me very hype. My main issue with AS2 was it wasn’t pushing their sound. It sounds like they did a bunch of experimental stuff on this, and if it pays off or not I appreciate that a lot.

 

RE: wills vocal contributions

in Parody Catharsis it’s a lot different and more unobtrusive than it’s been in the past. Also that song is one of my favorites.

on the last song, there’s a full verse. idk I don’t really like the last song at all.

Diving in. The spanish song sounds right out of S/T except for... you know... Tilian's attempt.

 

Night Sway has big S/T vibes so wait for that

 

This was one that didn't catch my attention my first couple listen throughs but it is an absolute banger.

 

Yeah I especially loved that one too. I'm into this a lot so far. It builds on the dreamier moments of Artificial Selection. Jon's melodic screams nicely change it up, and make the vocal performances more dynamic. Tilian slightly shows more restraint than he has on the past few albums, so that's cool too. The closer is fantastic.

 

Say Hi is another standout, but I've always been drawn to their heavier side so that was expected.

I liked "Lyrics Lie", "Say Hi" and "Born to Fail", nothing else grabbed me at all

Wild, I wouldn't put any of these in my top 5, haha. Nothing surprising with this band though. Most people have a different favorite component of them.

 

This album is equally their grooviest and heaviest at times

this is the best Mess has ever sounded on a DGD album as well

 

The closer is so fucking dope

 

Mess is very interesting here very strong performance with his melodic stuff I always want more of that

his part on Parody Catharsis is stupid catchy

 

definitely think I just want different things from my DGD than most people I know, lol. AS 2.0 is easily my favourite release from this era, and I can't get into IG or Mothership at all, outside of one or two songs each. this album definitely seems to follow on from those two - great for Mothership fans, but it's not for me haha
