It is going to be right in the wheelhouse of most readers of this website. You can pre-order it here, and read more about it here: The period of punk I lived through, from the mid-90s through the 2000s, has gone largely undocumented in any substantial way, at least in book form. When is someone going to properly chronicle this period, I often wondered. So, finally, I did it myself.I wrote a book called SELLOUT because that word pretty much defined the era of music I grew up in. This was when there was still money in the music industry—the kind of money people were literally swimming in. And after Nirvana’s Nevermind changed national music tastes overnight, major labels went looking for indie rock’s next big thing. From there, interest shifted to whatever subgenre of punk became popular over that decade—emo, hardcore, even ska. more Not all embedded content is displayed here. Just bought TRANNY: Confessions of Punk Rock’s Most Infamous Anarchist Sellout but in Polish, seeing as I was a bit proud to have a book about Laura translated to our language, we'll see how it works (I usually prefer to read the original, but well). This one sounds promising as well, I enjoy that subject and it was always ridiculous for me in the past.
I got a chance to hear Dan and Laura Jane Grace speak during their book signing tour back in 2016. This is a picture (from a terrible phone I had back in the day) from the signing I attended in Washington, DC. Looking forward to reading this next one!
I enjoy this guys' writing, particularly his story about waking up at 3am to see Blink 182 play in Central Park.
