I’ve been invited into Dustin’s home. I’ve hung out with him. He has a loyalty to me he cannot betray.

This is correct. What is the connection?
Ah, interesting. Well, I hope you do it. You'd be the second (that I'm aware of) forum poster from AP.net to have a stand up special.

A fine gentleman named John Cullen. He's signed to Yuk Yuk's in canada and posted mostly in the sports forum under the name RickRoll I think. Can't remember. Incredibly nice dude and is a touring comic through the summer and then teaches during the school year.

    John Cullen.

Can't find the special on Youtube which I'm pretty sure is where I watched it. But, I also didn't look that hard.

One of my more far-fetched longterm goals is to redefine the "politics" in Dallas comedy, per se hahaha. Like, a lot of the reason I don't do open mics and build up my repertoire is that everyone's a regular everywhere and it's impossible to build yourself up past the wall that the main cliques have created. It's not difficult to get time in Dallas but it's difficult to get any time that's before 1am at a comedy club, and no matter how hard you work at it, you won't get the experience you'd get in front of an actual crowd, or in completely different scenarios. A dream of mine is to open a club that'll put people through different comedy scenarios, that'll let some people test in front of a decent crowd, some in front of a good crowd, some in front of very few people, and actually rotate the opportunities (socialize the opportunities, for lack of better word) to make each comedian who performs there able to hone their craft in every scenario instead of just thrusting the people who always perform for 100 people in front of 100 people, and thrusting the people who perform in front of 10 people in front of 10 people. I think building up my own show and finding a way to create it outside of the norms could be a step in that direction (I hope).

I'm sure it's the same way everywhere but I feel like in other places there are at least more clubs to go to and different avenues to try things. In Dallas there's not as much flexibility and as a result there's a massive bottleneck.

That's awesome. I imagine a lot of entertainment is like that and in a space like comedy, it has to be cliquey as fuck. I couldn't imagine doing that. I also couldn't imagine living in a place with comedy clubs. There's some music venues that do open mics here but the comedy scene in Michigan is pretty garbage and most people who take it seriously basically act as touring comics within the state simply to get the chance to perform.

Yeah comedy is extremely cliquey, gives me a really bad taste at times hahaha. It's one of those things I completely love to do and also could never do as a career just because I can't get past that. Music is so different than comedy here, anyone can perform music for people anywhere around here and just make it work.

I would love to live in a city with a thriving comedy scene. I think that interests me now way more than a thriving music scene.

Actually we stole a cop car the other week when we are at Dustins.

Then we put whoopie cushions under the seats and cracked eggs in the air conditioner intake when we were done with it.

For a good amount of time I did! I wanna get back into it at some point, I've definitely got a lot of material still haha. I've only gotten paid for it once though so it's hard to call myself a comedian.

Kinda sorta. Like, it helped me to learn to deal with the world and try and learn to get out of my shell and adapt. But it sure would’ve saved a lot of depression and helped me connect a lot of dots if I knew hahaha. Overall I’m happy with the result though

Hmmm, maybe more questions along the deep personal route. But I did get a lot of those too
