    rock is being p broadly defined here. i like it. about this album though, i am pretty sure i read that they wrote the music collaboratively for this; did they do the same w lyrics? i was looking at the lyrics for wish and it has Joe and Matt as writers and i wasn't sure if that was just music or not.

    Damage or American Slang would be mine, as far as a straight up rock album is concerned.

    picking just one favorite rock album is intimidating and wildly conflicting. there's so much good!! and rock is so broad!! for a straight forward rock, idk. Maybe On the Impossible Past? it's punkish but i love that a lot. take this with a grain of salt though, trying not to think about it too much
