Pixies were dope, but a Pixies without Kim Deal is very much not a version of the Pixies I care about. Surfer Rosa alone warrants them Indie Hall Of Fame status though. Still, happy for Cymbals, great opportunity.

debaser might be the most overrated song on there, but that might be because something about the intro to it reminds me of bone machine and then im sad im not listening to bone machine

this is a weird take but joe's guitar tones on the album remind me of a modern meeting between gilmour/bowie

Hella great album, up there as far as best openers of the year go too, that's unquestionable. "Finally" is just such a fucking kick in the ass, such a soaring, emotive riff. Gah. Love it.

It was a game time decision, bc I didn't get back in Philly until 2am this am and my gf is going away tomorrow am. It would have been a pain to make it work out... but now I regret not sucking it up and making the trip.

I should have gone. Oh well. Their only other show posted (stateside) is in Lancaster. Unless they add some stuff before then, I'm in for that.

Now that most of the band lives in Philly, I'm hoping they have a couple of random local shows just for the hell of it... and maybe try out some new material.

yeah, same set as they've been doing for the most part, closed with a solo child bride though

ABC was pretty bad, just derivative indie rock, wasn't into it at all

 

pretty sure this is retroactively my second or third favorite release last year. the synth tones on it are fucking incredible.
